Just a reminder……
Windrock Park has both cabins and campgrounds and it’s advisable to book early for either. Nearby Oak Ridge, TN (less than 15 minutes away) also has a number of hotels.

Also if you make a hotel reservation in Oak Ridge, most of the hotels have Wind Rock rates available. I have never found these rates to be available for online booking, so I call the hotel directly to make the reservation at the Wind Rock rate.

You don’t want to miss the annual grand pilgrimage of the 70 Series faithful. 😊

In response to a couple of emails. Yes, all Land Cruisers (and Prado’s) are welcome to attend. 😊

It’s never too early to let the boss know that you’ll be out of the office in late September. 😊

70 Series “out the wazoo”. 😁

I’ve received a few emails concerning the type of trails we ride during our event. First and foremost, we do our level best to put you on trails that both you and your vehicle are comfortable with.
Historically, we have offered the following……
* Trails that offer little to no challenges and are basically scenic routes.
* Trails that offer a “moderate” challenge.
* Trails that are designed for “properly prepared” vehicles. (Sliders, lift, tires etc).
* Last but not least…. You are free to select any of a number of Windrock trails and travel solo.

Looking forward to a "moderate" challenge for my mostly stock HZJ77. Now that the quarter panels and rockers have been rebuilt, I hesitate to smash them on a rock, but I do want to use those front hubs.

Would this vehicle be more suited for “moderate” trails or something a bit more challenging? It’s fully locked.

I don’t wants any body damage!

In most cases, the Land Cruiser itself, is capable of task beyond what the average driver is willing
to tackle. 😁
Our goal is to do our level best to make sure you can drive your Cruiser home. 😊

There is one exception to the “all Cruisers are welcomed” statement. I’m assuming no one except @cruiserdan would show up in their Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser. 😊

Hey now... those things were wicked cool. I'd take one with a 455 and a 4-speed in a heartbeat.

I have often pondered finding a 1970 Plymouth Satellite wagon and transforming the front clip into a GTX with an Air Grabber 426 HEMI and a 4-speed. I'd drive the wheels off of that one. :grinpimp:

Where we stand with approximately 2 months to go………..
Due to the generosity of our sponsors and donors, all of the cost to put on this event are now covered and as a result, 100% of the attendance fees (and future donations, if they occur) will now go to the ALS Association. We still want to focus on being a “social event” but being a social event that accomplishes good things is equally important.
Thanks

All 3 evening meals (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) are provided by your host, and all you need to bring is
an appetite. 😊

Although our event has no direct involvement in the commemorative t-shirt / hoodie sales,
Reefmonkey - http://reefmonkey.com/ has once again agreed to host the sales through their website.
** 10% of the proceeds from these sales go to the ALS. 😊

Nice Looking 70 Series!

Appalachia Cruisers, the area TLCA Club, plans to host a ride to Panther Rock either Friday and/or Saturday. There is plenty of terrain just like what you have pictured.

It is a nice fun moderate trail with multiple lines and a small play area, before and after the scenic overlook, so you will need to engage low range/lock in your hubs and you can choose the degree of challenge you and your rig are up to from there.

Our goal is to conquer the trail with no damage, just increased driver confidence, and a great understanding of what these trucks can do. All being said, stuff can happen on the trail and the biggest challenge to trail riding at Windrock is the change of trail conditions, weather, trail traffic, and maintenance can make an easy trail moderate after a big storm and/or a big SXS event or a Cat D6 can take a moderate trail to a gravel road in an afternoon.

I plan to take my 73 which has a similar build.

The communications of choice for our event will be GMRS and it just happens that one of our main sponsors is the go-to source for both Garmin and Midland products. Give them a shout if you’re in the market. 😊
