Happy to say that I have registered for my first HIH event! Looking forward to meeting you all and making my first journey out to the west! Another one for the books. Coming from northern Virginia with a dissent rear:)

It is a 100 slots. Sorry to hear that you had issues.

It wasn't what I was expecting is all as I explained. So if we are on the wait list, is there a way to find out where on the wait list we are? I'm not holding my breath. This is quite a popular event.

Yes that was pretty crazy. We were looking forward to coming back this year with my sone being a little older and a new baby sister in tow.... luckily we have backup plans!

Hope everyone has lots of fun and hopefully we will be able to get in next year!!

Just FYI, I missed registering by an hour last year, and got on the wait list. I had an invite almost a month later.

Bummer seeing all of the comments again this year about people getting wait listed within seconds of registration opening. Never been, tried to register last year but didn't get in, and to be honest I was so shell shocked over it that I didn't even try this year. I really wonder what the admittance rate is for those that are not vendors or insiders. The 100 series community is growing, sad to see that this event is not keeping up. Very thankful that an event like this exists, but it may be time for someone else to start another event that is relevant to the community.

@SierraWheeler - hope this isn't a jab....we just push this thing live and it's sold out, about as simple as that. We have day jobs so the level of effort to create "insiders" isn't worth our time or $. thx...chris

They keep up by offering it, but as events get bigger and allow more attendees, it creates unforeseen issues. FJ Summit is a great example. It is so big that is upsets local tour guides as it bogs down the trails. Allowing too many people per trail leader makes things too slow going for actually driving the trail.

Edit- Also, my understanding is that FJ Summit allows for about 300 trucks and still sells out in a few minutes.

I’m sure @bluecruiser spent hundreds of hours coding so that the admit process gave preference to a subset of mud names / email addresses.

Relax @SierraWheeler , and hit refresh super fast from a high speed connection just like the rest of us :)

This event and these guys that put it on are half the reason the 100 series community has grown like it has... Bit of a paradox.

Part of me wants to have this an open event where there's no limit to the number of participants (you can tell I am waitlisted:p)

But I have seen trail riding events with too many trucks and that makes the whole thing painfully slow and just not fun for anyone.

In fact, 100 is still a pretty large number for a small group to organize. I will watch this thread to see everyone prep and then watch the awesome pics and videos of the event itself.
Next year you best believe I will have multiple machines ready to try and get myself a spot.

This is what it is - a home grown event put on by a couple dudes with day jobs, not professional event coordinators (I’m just assuming here).

I’ve planned events. It sucks and is a lot of work and everyone has an opinion. You can’t please everyone. If you made it 200 strong, some still miss out and the rest complain it’s too big and liked it bigger at 100.

Guys, don’t lose sleep over this. Be secure in doing the best you can for the group who goes and enjoy the party. Thanks for putting it together and I’m stoked to be going!

Shoot. Stuck in traffic getting home and am now waitlisted. So disappointed.

Eagerly keeping an eye on email for the possibility a ticket pops up.

Well understood, and I apologize that was not meant to be a jab at you guys. You'all are heroes for what you do and I'm not trying to make light of anyone's commitment.

This event is not to be missed. I have been able to go the past three years, which has been awesome. I was wait listed this year (fingers crossed) However, my wife brings up a great point which is that we live in Colorado, and we can go to the San Juans anytime we want. As I read all the fallout of registration, I see that there are so many people who are getting to go for the first time, and so many people who are coming from out-of-state that have never seen the majesty of those mountains. This is an amazing event. Chris and Satn do an amazing job. I'm sad that I don't get to go, but the fact that so many others will get to experience it for the first time, or the first time in years is equally amazing. Everyone interested should get the opportunity to do this a least once. I've been lucky, and I plan to keep trying in years to come.

I'm in the same boat. I had no idea it would sell out that quick. I had it marked on my calender to buy a ticket for months, but missed out too.

There are no insiders and vendors register completely separate. Your accusation that Chris and I handpick folks for this event is way off. Never happened, never will.

I have been attending since the third HIHs and can very well testify of how big this thing has gotten since then! These guys put up an enormous amount of effort to set it all up and all "we" do is sign up and show up! Vendors have to separately sign up as well and they still come back year after year giving away prizes because they simply believe in the way things are done at HIHs!
It is a bummer to get kicked to the sidelines after seconds of registration opening but it shows how the 100 series platform has grown the past few years!
Cheers!
