We went away for a couple of weeks and as a precaution I removed the EFI relay for theft prevention. Upon returning home, I reinstalled the relay and went to start the 100. No crank at all, and there is a buzzing noise coming from the starter area. After looking at multiple search results on here, I'm no closer to figuring out what is going on. I'm thinking maybe the starter contacts are stuck? Odd that they would randomly do that, no? I'm due for a 90k service, so it's not a major deal, but I'm still a week or two away from having the time to do it. Any thoughts to get it back on the road for a few weeks?

If you have aftermarket electronics, battery can go dead in two weeks.

I had the same thing happen to me at the airport. Came back from a trip and same thing...no crank and buzz noise. Had airport services jump it and it started right up. Turns out one of the cells in my battery was bad, so got a new battery and no issues since.

I tested the battery with my multi meter and got over 12v, but I will try boosting it before ding the starter. I can't just drive up beside it where it is parked so I just tested voltage.

It's electrically stock, so nothing weird to drain it. Thanks for the reality check on boosting even with 12 + volts...

You need a Li-ion battery jump starter like those made by anti-gravity. I use mine all the freaking time, it seems...

Mine also showed about 12v when the guy from airport services hooked it up.

Multimeter won't tell you I you have bad cells in the battery. I like using trickle chargers/battery tender. Use it on the lawn tractor when I'm done mowing.

I'm using it now to keep my gate battery fresh until I figure out what's up with the gate opener.

Cheap black and decker works great.

I pulled it out of the carport with my Cummins truck and gave it a boost. Started just like a Landcruiser should! I'm not 100% sure it is only the battery, but I put a spanking new group 24 in it anyhow. The other battery was a smaller group 27 and after I pulled the hold down off I found the service date... 12/08 so it's definitely due for a new one.

I did find that my local dealer is as cheap as American Toyota (bummer that C-Dan has retired!) for the starter should I need one. All in, an informative day.

Thanks for the help guys!

Yeah, that was a nice bonus. I work out of town and had it died on the wife while I was away it would have been "unpleasant ".

Check your terminal connections too. My positive connection was deformed, and it caused the same kind of weird buzzing noise. I replaced it, and life is good.
