Coolant everywhere. This against firewall - I do not see the hose. Where does it go?

He might have the rear heater bypassed.

Normally, there is a T from the rear heater and the main heater, which then has a hose to the engine, as seen in the above picture.

Here is a nice coolant diagram from this post

Replace all the hoses you can - if one split/died, many of the others must be of similar vintage... Get better hose clamps too or some self tensioning ones.

cheers,
george.

If you can believe complete top and bottom rebuild etc Land Cruiser heaven md 5 years ago. This is the least of it. Thanks again. Ok just to yank the hose off or should I cut?

To get back on road I am going to need to pick up some hose cut to length and clamps. The. I will order the kit thanks. Is it ok to cut the hose off? Meaning split it to remove it from the car. Not remove a part of it.

You can remove it entirely, from the firewall to the engine. Replace with Gates 5/8" Green Stripe Hose, or another top brand.

Hang on....that is the return line from the front heater. The answer remains carefully slice it off at the firewall as that is a bass pipe and not a good one to mangle (ask me how I know). If 20815 is your zip code, Fleetguard in GAITHERSBURG has the remains of the correct 5/8" Gates Greenstripe. This ends up being too fat for the Toyota hose clamps, so use the Gates Powergrip. They have this too.

I am in 20850 and have been through this. PM me for help.

Second vote for GATES GREEN STRIPE 5/8" heater hose (not GATES "Premium" White Stripe which is their cheapo line of heater hose)
It costs twice as much as the cheapo hose but won't leave you stranded. Many autoparts stores carry the GREENSTRIPE, check out O'Reillys in the US, just
don't use the cheaper generic hose.

IME the GATES Power Grip heat shrink thermoplastic "clamps" (bands) work very well but there's a learning curve on how to apply them (using heat). For a quick fix you could use a couple of BREESE Constant Torque clamps.

You can use a Hobby/Craft Knife (looks like a scalpel) to slice the hose lengthwise where it fits over a pipe, then peel the hose off the pipes, do not just yank on it.
