You wanna come? Come on!! I'll PM details.

I was gonna say Grey Rock and Morris Mtn are on my to-do list, we should get up. How far are you from those?

GrayRock is 2.5 hours and MM is 1.5 hours...
The great American Park (GAP) is 5 minutes and is nothing but HUGE rocks at an old golf course = freaking awesome

Well I guess GAP just got added to my list.

Very interested in the front half of this cage.

:steer:

Here is a rough idea:

Bar from front bumper will be behind fender.

Cross bar will be under the hood. Actually will have mounts for hood pins, as the hood bracing has been removed along with the hood shocks, hinges and latch etc. Lost a good bit of weight there, and the hood just barely hit the ARB hoop when it opened on the stock hinges. I was gonna trim the front edge of the hood but then I saw someone who had made the hood lift off with pins.

Also toying with the idea of dimple-died hood vents.

Inside front bars from halo.

These will tie in to A pillar/roof sliders with sandwich plates through the roof:

I doubt this will give you enough headroom, but eager to see if it does!
Are you putting the front fenders back on after the tube work?

I'm 5'9 on a good day..

Yes. Slightly trimmed.

See, this is where things get complicated. I'm 6' 5" on a normal day.

I think I may take my cage out of the cab for the front half. I'm not too worried about headroom in the rear, and I don't want a full exo. I'll have to play around with some ideas to make it work and look good.

any more pics of your "shaved" ARB mounted ? how is the external cage coming?

Not going to be much more on the outside, maybe a cross bar or two is all.

I'll try to grab some tomorrow. Didn't get any pics at all last weekend. It did drive under its own power last Sat! :steer: Getting started back to it early-early in the AM.

Along with the cage work, tomorrow plan to sleeve the tie rod, drag link and lower control arms. Got 3/4 solid stock for the steering links(thanks to Land Speeder's idea.), and if it fits inside the LCA's gonna use it threre too, otherwise gonna sleeve on the outside with 1-3/4 .120 s**** tube.

Also, orderd the Inchworm kit for the front locker, but wont be here till Wed.

Ramdom pics from Sat. Not as much progress as I hoped for, mostly due to a Radiator fiasco.

Here is the ARB mounted:

Also moved solenoid pack behind grill, and a pic of my redneck in-cab winch control. Will get a better fitting switch at some point, but this works very well for now.

Found this skidplate in Ryans scrap pile, I think it is from an IFS Chevy. Drilled a couple holes in it and had it on in about 2.5 minutes. Better coverage than stock, but def not ideal. Sooner than later, I plan to make a completely flat skid lined with UHMW.

And I shortened the rear crossmember. Cant remember how much, it was a fair amount.. 4-5 inches maybe? Just gonna bolt a pintle to the existing holes for a recovery point for now. Not 100% sure what my ultimate goal for the rear of this thing is. Guess that depends on how much I drag it.

EEK... too much cut off in the back crossmember... I always leave enough to stick out the farthest.... I've seen the hatch get crushed by rolling backwards into a tree.... not mines though!

Looks like the rear needs this...

The pintle will be sticking out a bit in the middle, so that will offer some protection for now. Still very undecided on what will happen to the rear, whether it will get chopped and bobbed, or leave it as is and build a bumper with wings kinda like yours..we'll see. If the tailgate gets smashed it will get tossed and I will just be that much lighter. :hillbilly:

Also, if you are on a steep hill, the crossmember would have to be left pretty far out to still hit before the tgate. If you are not on a hill, and you roll back into a tree, you suck at driving.:flipoff2:
