If you were looking for an nice truck to drive everyday that would be comfortable for 4 adults. Which would you choose? The 80 has 36,000 miles and is super clean the 100 has 56,000 miles and has some small chips in the paint. The trucks are withing $3,000 of each other. I like the 80 but I know a 100 has more creature comforts. I will have a nice FJ55 (http://homepage.mac.com/ryanandjessaka/PhotoAlbum1.html) eventually, but until then what should I buy to curb my Land Cruiser fix.

Thanks,
Ryan.

See my reply in the 80 section...

From the title I'd say the 100...but a 97 80 with 30k miles might be hard to pass up.

Hard question to answer shortly/quickly...but it really depends, as you surely know, how you will use the vehicle. The 2000+ 100 with TRAC and stability control will be ultimately safer for pavement and gravel road use (stability control and TRAC). The V8 offers more HP for family loads; more comfortable ride on all types of surfaces. The 80 certainly is more advantageous if you are planning more than a 2" lift.

When I vacilated over the same dilema 18-months ago...the V8 and IFS won out for my uses and I would make the same decision again. I use mine for all types of uses and the 2" lift gets me everywhere I need/want to go off-road. Is it a Rubicon vehicle? No...but if you want the ideal hardcore off-road boulder crossing rig I think something smaller and lighter than either the 80 or 100 would be best. Of course that's not to say an 80 or 100 haven't crossed the Rub or other similar trails.

The 80 was leased by the CEO of Adelphia and kept at his vacation home in Pennsylvania it is being sold by his property manager and everything looks legit. It doesn't even have the usual rock chips on the bumper/hood. Almost like a time machine back 9 years. The 100 is actually an LX470 if it makes a difference.

Ryan.

The LX is a better choice if you want to keep it stock in my opinion...........

100.

If I could only have one or the other :frown: ...The 100 would win :D

I've had both and I would buy the 80 with the 36K miles. Personal opinion, but I think the 80 series is the best looking LC made next to a FJ40. The 80 is not as much of a luxury vehicle as the 100 series or built quite as heavy but they are just cool and not as many around so you won't be passing yourself as often.

Man, a 30k 80. That's a rarity! But I'd still personally go for the 100. I don't think either would be a bad choice. I'd feel guilty putting miles on the 80! :D

It's opiniative really. There is no better cruiser for long road trip family vacations than a 100.

Does the 80 have lockers BTW?

No lockers on the 80. But I really wouldn't be wheeling the 80 or the 100 anyways (I hope). I would like to use my 55 for that. I guess I have answered my own question. The 100 sounds like it is going to be best for day to day driving.

Ryan.

Yup, I agree. W/O the lockers, you really have more capabilty in the 100 than the 80 so that 80 advantage is out the window. Especially if the plan is to wheel the pig anyhow.

If you have long legs, you might find legroom in the 80 lacking. At least I did (6'1"). Brakes are better on the 100. Others on the board can comment on this.

Ryan,
Based on your use... the LX470. If room for another vehicle, also get the 80. If you are married, the wife will likely end up driving the LX and you will get to drive the 80 and 55 (not a bad deal).

I would buy the 100 if I had to choose if I were you. That said, if you do not buy the 80, can you pass me the info on it?

Thanks :)
