This has not been my day/month/year. My FJ62 just failed the smog emissions test. The CO high speed test failed. Standard is 1.20 and it hit 1.54 on high speed. Least year the CO reading was 0.5. A giant gain over the past year. Any ideas?

THere has been no check engine light and I put in the display jumper and it flashes rapidly indicating all normal - code buffer is empty all systems normal.

Also the tech says my "gas cap failed". What did it fail? I just bought a new one last year. There is always pressure on the tank when I unscrew it but I thought that was normal.

Observations: Semi/slight rough idle when cold; when engine heats to normal operating temperature while idling in the driveway, once it reaches a warm temperature the engine "shifts" to a lower idle speed and it seems a little rougher idle than before.

they put your cap on a suction device.....no seal no good.

my 62 failed for 2 reasons....cat cooled off and the solenoid that switches the feed of air from engine while cold to silencer canister when warm wasn't getting ground signal. instead of buying a new computer, i grounded the solenoid ( at the computer under the dash so its hidden) so it was always triggered.

this means the emmisinons is not working properly for about a minute while the engine warms up.

be sure the cat is good and hot when you take it in.

NorCal60 has some good insight in the number details.....he may have a better answer...
