Seriously, I once got 20.4 mpg on a run from Mammoth down to Ridgecrest. (Filled up just before I left Mammoth, filled up the next morning in R/C, and did the math.) ~5000ft elevation change over about 200 miles, plus taking it nice and easy.
I always hesitate to post it up, 'cause I figure no one will believe me.
Oh, and if you think about it, I actually wasted money by filling up in Mammoth since it's so expensive there and I still had half a tank or so, but I just really wanted to try it as an experiment.

Wait a second, I am on my way Saturday to pick up a 94' w/factory locks, the LCs get bad mileage?
If I had known that I would have..... still got it because LCs ROCK !
P.S.
80s Cruiser Gods help! How do I change my login name from ToddsFJ60 to something relating to my new 94' I am picking up tomorrow? !!!!

Has anyone here tried "pulse and glide" technique?
Driving technique: exploring 'Pulse and Glide' - MetroMPG.com
Pulse and glide works like this: let's say you're on a road where you want to go 60 km/h. Instead of driving along at a steady 60, you instead accelerate to 70 (that's the pulse), and then coast in neutral with the engine off down to 50 (that's the glide). That's it. Rinse and repeat. And repeat. And repeat...

Something must have changed in the Forum software over the past few years. Landtoy80 changed his name to Nimrod over the Christmas holidays a couple of years ago. I have no idea why...

I routinely get 300 miles/tank (21 gallons approx) with 285's, Kaymar rear bumper, MT sliders, and OME 2.5" heavy lift 20% town/80% highway going 80mph. 87 octane cheapy crappy ARCO.
Still not worth doing a diesel conversion unless one plans to drive it another 200K miles!

Maybe, because you are going downhill.
I used to get 16 mpg and has since switched to 315's and now I'm at 12-13 mpg. Has anyone seen chages with switching out to a K&N or flowmaster I know on my cherokee with 35"s I was getting 19 mpg and it had both K&N and flowmaster. Just trying to get a little more power and mpg.
