I bought an 87 Pickup and it came with the 4-5” Superlift. I have 35” tires on it.

The steering has too much play and needs to be replaced. I’m trying to figure out which parts are compatible with the lift.

I need ball joints, pitman arm, stabilizer arm, inner and outer tie rods, etc.

Does anyone know if stock parts are compatible or do I need something else?

Thanks!

I was looking at this kit, but don’t know if it will work.

I've had good luck on my 87 4 runner daily driver with 2 inch ball joints spacer lift and 285/70/17 tires on all moog components for the past 2 years and counting. Still nice and tight going down the highway at 70 on mud terrains. Approximately 30,000 miles at this point. I'm half way to a timing belt change interval.

I did tie rod ends, pitman arm and ball joints. The upper and lower control arms are now urethane before I put her on the road.

My idler arm was upgraded with bronze bushings as those are the weak point. I installed a new steering box due to leakage. No issues turning those big ties at parking lot speeds with a VW Passat power steering pump.

But over the last few years moog quality has been hit or miss so now I'd probably go OEM for all those components minus the bronze bushing idler assembly.

I'd avoid the eBay/Amazon China rebuild kits at all cost unless you want to go back into your rig often. Tried them on my Passat and the boots were falling apart in a few months. No grease fittings so they were ruined. Absolute garbage. A co worker used them on his Chevy 1/2 ton and in 6 months was worn out.

I don't think you have any options besides stock replacement parts, or exact replicas of them. Except for idler arm, there's this custom heavy duty part: Toyota 4Runner 1986-1995 CADDY IDLER ARM | TOTAL CHAOS FABRICATION - https://www.chaosfab.com/product/1986-1995-Toyota-4Runner-Caddy-Idler-Arm-95130

If all the parts mentioned are original then yes, probably need to be replaced. You'd think the person installing the lift would have done that, since the lift/big tires makes everything wear out faster. With my '90 4runner, everything has eventually needed replacement in my 22 years of ownership except for ball joints. Incredibly they're still OK.

4 crawler is where I got my upgraded idler arm

Marlin also offers one now.

Ya, but 4Crawler was the innovator of the upgraded idler arm. Is Marlin selling his product, or have they copied it?

It may have been the total chaos upgraded idler i saw on marlin. My 4 crawler is much cheaper than the TC and so far it's great but I don't wheel.
