'84 FJ60 NOOB :) IT BOGS! lt1 anyone??

allo,
have just aquired fj60,lol it s BIG,now I know why they call minivans MINIvans.

seems like its an '86 2f so I was told
Never seen any pics on this or other sites that have the same air cleaner,it s got to be 8 inches high.on the drivers side with an oval snorkel going to the carb. Carb does look new,but there is NO vacum on this carb.
The body is near mint 7/10
interior 2/10

Ok so I live in Toronto,picked up new ride last nite from dowtown.I live north of the city,so going up the Don Valley Parkway/404 HWY speed limit 100kmh.
It was back firing,no power,80kmh is all I could do to Richmond Hill (20km or so)
Created quite the traffic jam
My brother was following me,it was rich the fumes coming out of the exhaust where like last weeks boat ride and a major headache for him.
few questions
-Anyone in the Toronto GTA area know a good mechanic for these(I did a search,no avail info)
-I looked searched this site and a few others that offer tune up kits,any recomandation?? Toyota needs 3-4 days +++ very pricey.

\Now the real big question

I have a complete 93 z28 with LT1 auto tranny(own it,no pipe dream)
Haven t seen any LT1 swap info since I have been searching online,lot s of vortec and LS1.

Any leads???

PS got the beast home @ 9pm,didn t get to sleep t'ill 5 am went to work @ 8am and didn t work all day BECAUSE OF this NEw Passion,surfin for FJ60 info.

My plans are to drive stock for a while.

backfireing is likely due to faulty ignition timing. Plenty of information on this board about that. You can do it yourself with a $30 timing light and a 12mm combination wrench. Set it on the BB for starters.

Guys,been under the hood for 3 days,haven't slept in 3 weeks. FJ-anatic I am now!!!

Well here are updates
Took it over to mechanics last week to get a safety.
On my way there (about 20km HWY a wire from the ignition coil to carb shorted the engine,my bro was following,sait there was a 2 foot flame out of exhaust.
Mechanic says he changed wires,(all taped up).
I took a look,frigging guy splice to the old wire(melted one)
The LC is a total wiring MESS

Once again,I would love to keep it stock(wish it was diesel) but I do have a 93 z28 complete car,and a swap would sure be sweet(250hp+++) +$2-3K in aditional parts and labor

and then again a diesel swap would be the ultimate but
cons 90hp pros french fry oil

I would consider buying a rusted out diesel and rebuilding engine,any comments on this one?? best diesel swap for the 84 fj60?? under $2-3K.

B4 I got the LC I was thinking diesel something anyways.
