Painting

I got 11.5 hours over the last few days on the 60. I took today off work as the weather was 81°.

I got both front fenders prepped and in epoxy primer:

I got the front valence prepped (it was dented badly):

And got the front valence in epoxy primer:

I got the hood prepped:

And both sides in epoxy primer:

The total hours in January was 338. I will tally them up again after paint and post it up.

For the record, you guys are too kind. Pictures don't show all my flaws. Besides, I am getting to the point where I just want it done... I would really hesitate to do a paint project this big in a 2 car garage again.

As I stated earlier in the thread, I am going to drive this truck. I want it nice, but not too nice.

I got a total of 14hr and 45 min over the last week on the painting.

I got the paint booth cleaned up, all the holes fixed and everything prepped for paint.

That it is! It does work well for me. Only problem I have is spending $10-15 dollars cleaning a gun I only paid $9 for!

That gun is the bomb! Folks whom have not sprayed with it don't know what they are missing. I painted this honda with that gun; I'd say the results speak for the quality.

Some folks say you can remove the air cap, but I've never been able to get mine off. Apparently it's reverse threaded?

I have unfortunately decided to stop my frame off of my 83 FJ60 due to time, money, and work constraints.

Thanks to all for the support and watching! I hate to let everyone down, but life has twists and turns.

I'll post up the parts in the for sale section after some crying... so please don't ask in this thread for this part or that.

I was planning on getting some sleep an hour ago, but I found this thread and I was sucked into its depth and comprehensive approach. What an amazing project and what an amazingly responsible decision - something to be admired.

I hope to see this passing by someday when my project is 'finished'.

MMM nice attention to detail and getting it right. BTW. this is crazy you cut out the floor but now I can see how the wheel wells as well as the supports look.

How difficult do you think it would be to drill out the spot welds out of the wheel wells with the floor in place to remove for for rebuilding "such as my truck" ?

I got 1hr and 30 minutes on the 60 tonight. I got the rear floor supports all cleaned up and tacked into place. It is starting to come back together!

far easier to use torch / scrapper on underboating

Unless yours is hard and crusty, much faster to heat it and use a scrapper.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately... been travelling for work.

I got 7hrs on the 60 over the last few weeks. I got the floor all finished up! All the spot welds holes are welded up and ground down flat. Looks ok, definitely not perfectly flat... but at least rust free.

I also did a little clean up work on the bottom. The wire wheel works great for removal of the undercoating, but where grease/oil has been sitting, it gets really soft and gooey. At these spots (rear of t-case and transmission tunnel), I used a putty knife to s****e the oily **** off before I use the wire wheel.
