The Dead Horse Morals: by Schmeer and Montero

Never lick a dead horse in the mouth.
A watched pot never has a dead horse in it.
A breath mint a day keeps the dead horses away.
You can drag a dead horse to water, but you can't make him drink.
Good guys on dead horses always finish last.
Two's company, but three dead horses stink.
A rolling dead horse always gathers the most momentum.
The pen is mightier than the dead horse.
A dead horse is better left dead.
You can't teach a dead horse new tricks.
Take time to stomp and smell the dead horses.
Starve a fever, feed a dead horse.
Stupid is as a dead horse does.
If a tree falls on a dead horse in the woods, and no one is around, does it make a sound?
Do unto a dead horse as you would have a dead horse do unto you.
A journey of 1000 miles steps on a dead horse.
A penny saved is a dead horse earned.
Don't count your dead horses until they're hatched.
No work and no play makes Jack a dead horse.
A picture is worth 1000 dead horses.
United we stand, divided we're a dead horse.
My only regret is that I have but one life to live for my dead horse.
Don't put all your dead horses in one casket.
Don't make a mountain out of a dead horse.
One man's dead horse is another man's treasure.
The dead horse is always greener on the other side of the fence.
Don't burn a dead horse on both ends.
Dead horses can't be choosers.
A dead horse in need is a dead horse indeed.
The dead horse never falls far from the tree.
Haste makes a dead horse.
People in glass houses shouldn't throw dead horses.
Driving an 80 is like driving a dead horse.
Waste not, want a dead horse.
A dead horse in the hand is worth two in the bush.
A dead horse is the sincerest form of flattery.
Beauty is in the eye of the dead horse.
All that which glitters is not a dead horse.
Dead horses never say die.
When the going gets rough, the dead horses get molding.
Every dead horse has a silver (stomach) lining.
Early to bed and early to rise makes a dead horse attract many flies.
If the shoe fits, kick a dead horse.
You can pick your dead horse, and you can pick your nose, but don't pick your dead horse's nose.
Time flies when you have a dead horse.
You can't kill two dead horses with one stone.
If wishes were dead horses, we'd all cast nets.
You can't have your dead horse and eat it too. (ooh... sorry)
Beauty is only a skinned dead horse deep. (ooh... sorry again)
I don't think, therefore I am a dead horse.
There is no use beating a dead horse.

Wow, for all the hostility in this thread you would think we were comparing jxxps and Toyotas! :flipoff2:

My own opinion is tha the 100 is built far superior to the 80...it's quieter, smoother, more powerful, etc (Notice I said 'built', not designed, you might not like the IFS design or some other things but the build quality is 2nd to none). Those are undisputed facts from testing, however when you compare offroad prowless (I think that's a word :D), that gets very iffy to me. Determining which is best by what you can make it up is not a good comparison either, since driver/tires/conditions all dramatically affect that.

I applaud John for building and wheeling his 100, several people need to do that to get the word out, just like Christo did several years ago, I'm sure he got a ton of "WTF is he doing with a LAND CRUISER!!" looks and questions when he was first wheeling his 80.

So, wheel on...and please focus just 1/3 of the bitching-energy seen here to develop some cool products, or to convince a friend to buy a Toyota... :D

My 4Runner will spank all the 100's and 80's :-)

Having wheeled an 80 hard, build the ShortBus to wheel even harder, I have realized on thing. For pure rock crawling etc, the weight of either the 80 or 100 kill it. Yes they are awsome up to a point, then it all goes to hell.

There is a reason my friends call ShortBus, Shamu. When she beaches, she is stuck.

Other than that, you can take either truck, modified or unmodified, new or old anywhere you want, if you have the balls and the wallet to do it. That is all I have to say about it. :D

I have not psoted here at all as this tread parrells what is happening on the 100 series list. But is has made for some interesting reading. later robbie
Yes Dan pull that trigger on that sub tank, it for me, paid for it self in the first 2 years of drivng my crusier as much as I do. Be perpared to either add spacers or stiffer springs as well.

Thanks Robbie,

I'm going with an OEM sub and I have 863's so I think I have enough spring. I have a set of pre-owned 864's if I need them.

Oh Christo.....you're opening a new bag of worms! You're right though. Dang, I've wheeled with some Taco's that simply spank my 80. SPANK!
*********************************************************************

Here's a paste from the 100 forum I should share with ya all on this thread:

Absolutely Robbie. Maybe I'm having too much fun on this forum? I take this all in fun, even the digs. On these treads in particular I wait axiously for one's next come-back. Some have been hilarious. I'm also in sales, so that might shed some light regarding whatever vs whatever? I'm in here sellin' sometimes and that's some of the fun of it (for me).

I can tell that some people can get pretty worked up about comments. Being writing it's hard to tell one's true intent behind it. To those, sorry if I "worked you up".

Any how, I'll be taking THE 80 out this weekend with a bunch of Jeep buddies. We'll have a blast together. They know I have the utmost respect for their Jeeps (just like I do my Rover buddies, and my Taco buddies....etc.). That might surprise you by the way I post in here. Reality is, in real life, I don't put anybody's ride down....well, H2's are close.
I might also add that while I might like my 100 better, I probably have more respect for my 80 (???) because of what I can do in it. (Don't repeat that anybody!)

THANK YOU!!!

Oh, and don't worry about disrespecting H2s, that is allowed... ;)

Dang, it sounds like you guys are going to kiss and make up. I was hoping for a "Triple Dog Dare" and a showdown in Moab!

Andy -

Once again, can't do Moab. Remember, baby's coming in April!

But by Rubithon, hopefully I should be able to get the "get out of jail free" card from Debbie! I thought about getting some of the dents fixed on the 80, especially the big one I got on Cadillac two years ago, but I'm planning to add more this June, so I guess it would be moot.

Wanna come over this weekend and help me put in the winch and sub-tank?

Knaw......I put "probably respect...." :D

Showdown? No contest. While the 100 might get a "pretty ribbon" it won't beat out 80's on the trail. :)

Can't say that. Don't know. And by the way.....when did you ever hear me say "turbo" 80? Never did cuz I never ran against one. :)
I've always said "blown" or "S/C". I have a buddy with one and pull away from him. Todd K confirmed this too as he has a blown 80 and a 100.

So you're OK TURBOCRUISER. I've never said I can beatcha! :)

Ok, I just glanced through this thread, but I am still confused. What is the general consensus? Is the 80 better or the 100?

Jared
