John, No need to repost some old photos that you have posted before to reinforce the same old stuff. You really do not see what you post and then to say you have nothing to prove by it. I guess then your 100 may not be faster(or as bad) than a blown 80, just talk. You really know how to talk a lot of bull. Yes it takes alot of guts to wheel a 100 any where(or is it pocket book), Amando did just that, show some balls at times to get his truck through some areas(i was there for a couple of days with the Cali guys). So all I ment by what I posted was that it will be great to get past some of the myths that you post one way or the other on how much better the 100 is over the 80. It will be wonderful to finally meet you, As it was meeting many others I have met at different events. later robbie

John, I only see a pic of your 80 and then there's that part - on YOUR 80.

It's been beaten to death about stock vs. stock, but if it's modified then it's WFO. There's more to Moab than just slick rock too.

John everybody appreciates your opinion, most of us just believe that an 80 will still crush a 100....... :beer:
 
Oh and the day you'll treat your 100 like somebodys BEATER EDITION I know then we'll talk......

Speaking of bullet-proof, have you been seeing all the posts over on 100sCool about T-bar mounts cracking down in Oz? And Toyota won't honor their warranty if the truck has modified suspension (i.e. your basic 2" OME lift). They've never had these types of problems on their 80s or Nissan Patrol GUs (also, coincidentally, a live front axle truck).

IFS will never be as stout as a live axle. I would like to say that's my opinion, but I think it's more fact.

As to breaking Birfs, well, I've never snapped one on my 140K+ mileage truck with 35s and doing stuff like the Rubicon, cranking the power steering over huge boulders and gunning the torque through the Birfs at the same time while all locked up. The percentage of 100s who wheel these types of conditions are minimal, hence you don't hear a lot about broken CVs (though Christo did bust one in Canada!). In fact, Amando may be the only guy I know of who's done Cadillac Hill in a 100. I still have yet to see any pics of your 100 on something like this:

I have not yet wheeled my 100 hard (and won't until the warranty runs out and my wife no longer needs to reach into the back seat to put the baby in the already too tall truck), and I love it tremendously, but I have no illusions as to what it excels at. When the time comes, it will get a mild two inch lift, bumpers, lockers, roof rack, and all the other accoutrements to make it the perfect expeditionary vehicle, which will free up the 80 to get lifted to the sky, `Mog axles, 40" tires, cut frame ends, roll cage, and all the other goodies to make it crawl!
