As of last night we are again owners of a Land Cruiser 80 series!!!

Our first was a 92 we owned and sold a long time ago, then a 97 we owned for a while and sold and got a 98 100 series. The :princess: was so sad to see our black 97 go, and never really did like the 100 except for the heated seats!!

After we sold the 100 we took advantage of a great lease offer on a Mercedes ML350 through my work which is a perk of being Master Certified. I liked it at first, but began to miss the off road/expedition lifestyle. I looked and looked for another 100 or LX470 but the boss said she wanted us to have another 80 instead.

Six days ago, the :princess: and I are looking for a 97 again and found a Collector's Edition in San Francisco that we are about to go take a look at. As we are walking out the door a lady pulls up in front of our house, gets out, and says, "I hope this doesn't sound weird, but I sold you Girl Scout Cookies..." at which point I blurted out "Land Cruiser!"

It had been 9 months since we bought cookies from their daughter.

She said she remembered us talking about Cruisers and her and her husband were selling their 97 Collector's Edition and wanted to know if we wanted to buy it! She had us follow her to their house, (which is only 2 minutes away but never part of the neighborhood we drive through).

There in the driveway sat a 97 Collector Edition Desert Dune on 315's, factory lockers, and other goodies. We're not religious, but when we puled up my wife noticed across the top of the back window was a Bible verse "Joshua XX:XX" and says, "Look, it has your name on it!"

We immediately hit it off with the owners and stayed talking in the driveway for few hours, drove the Cruiser and decided we wanted it. Last night after work we took ownership of our new rig and we are so happy to have an 80 series again!!

It feels good to be back!!

Beautiful truck. Love the color. Okay.... WHAT did the PO do to that ARB??! :flipoff2:

Thanks for sharing and cool story. Sounds like classic cruiser-karma to me:)

You know chitown, I did some research and found that out! I wasn't sure if you wantedme bothering you and saying, "HEY I HAVE YOUR OLD RIG!"

I'd like to thank you for purchasing such a great rig and then modding it so tastefully! I bought it from Jim who had it shipped here from the windy city! Turns out the whole time it's been just up the street from me!

The:princess:and me read your original ROTW yesterday. Just like Jim asked you when he found out it was originally yours, I'd like to learn more about her history from you! If you're ever out this way you should take her for a drive!!

Do you have the 3rd row seatbelts?!

I put the third row seatbelts in the truck when I traded her in.. along with the 3rd row seats. I think it made a stop in Detroit before Jim got it. Check your PMs.

1. 1993 FZJ80 factory lockers and cloth seats
2. Douglas Huft
3. Not into naming vehicles but the 3 year old calls it "Cruiser Truck"
4. 140,000
5. cdl switch, ome medium 2.5, extended breathers, angle iron power steering guard, extra interior 12v plugs, trailer brake controller de flared/roof racked, durabaked, 285 cooper stt, metal tech sliders
6. family truckster, tent trailer tow vehicle, family trail vehicle
LOVE the de-flared look. I crunched one of my flares a bit and was able to pry away enough to peek behind it a bit. How much hole filling and clean up work was needed to get it looking nice for paint? it looked like there was paint and clear coat all the way under but there was an almost sand paper feel to the finish. Any advice before I decide to tear them off?

got my hands on my own LC!

Hi all... First of all this forum is GREAT! After doing some research from this site... I finally picked her up last week and got my dream truck! Got her for a good price with the condition of the vehicle.

My lady still don't understand why i bought a not only used, but old truck!

I told her it's a Land Cruiser thing...

I have been going through off roading trips with my cousins and friends and finally, i have my own rig. Most of them are Jeep guys and only 3 of us have LC. I have the least stock for now.

It's a '94 80 series, 162k, it's sitting on a 265/75/16 right now because the prior owner drives it daily on the freeway. They were pretty quiet on the road. I had to drive 220mi just to pick her up. A brand new tranny was installed by toyota 20k mi ago. The owner had a 2mos trip to Yukon and Yellowknife (BC) and when he came back he heard metal grinding and had it checked, $6k later he had a brand new tranny.

It came with 2 front recaro seats (electric and heated).

2x OME 851 front (2.5")
2x OME 860 rear (2.5")
2x OME 60018 Nitrocharger Front shocks
2x OME 60020 Nitrocharger Rear Shocks
1x OME SD24 Steering Damper

Other than that, she is stock and she runs solid and i am happy and enjoying it so far. I have messed with the stock rims already and painted them flat black. Not the best paint job but it'll suffice my needs for now.

My first mod will be upgrading to 285/75/16. As i've seen most have these as well. Any suggestions? I have stock gears by the way. I will not go that far (hard core) as far as wheeling her (as it will be daily driven to work as well) but i want to at least have fun at the playground at hollister hills and be able to pull my cousin's original willy's when we go wheelin... Will the 285's require regearing? Not so much of a mechanic but i have my cousins that will help me with it.

More mods to come... hopefully...

Thank you all...

JOHN

Hey everyone! I just bought her yesterday, and I'm jazzed! I had a 2wd '02 Tundra for over 5 years and it was one of the best vehicles I've ever had. My most recent 4wd was a '95 Range Rover Classic. My British lass was quirky and expensive, but I love her none the less. Unfortunately, she gave her life to save mine, and my son's, a week ago when a van crossed in front of us, against the light, on a major highway (55 mph). Decided to return to Toyota reliability, and also get one of the best expedition 4x4 ever made!

Year - 1997
Owner - Randy
Name - Don't have one yet. My off-the-top-of-my-head silly name is TLC-TCB! (Toyota Land Crusier - Taking Care of Business!)
miles - 184k
mods - Son and I removed the running boards and back mud flaps this evening (too dark for good photo). Still to come: 285/75R16s; spare tire ANYWHERE else than under the tail.
Use - Daily driver and weekend warrior (camping and trail riding in N. Georgia).
