Green as grass and twice as stupide

I picked up a 97 LX450 with 88 K on the clock. Just working out some of the kinks and getting to know the truck. Mods arr going to take some time, but we are being pushed in on area. A couple of weeks ago my wife was rear ended a pretty good whack. It speaks well of the truck that we suffered little damage compared to the wind star that suffered mightily. The other guys insurance estimate $1000.00 to REPAIR the bumper/hitch receiver and electrics, but I want to get an off road bumper/tire carrier/Jerry can holder. I looked at ARB, but they are VERY heavy. Is their another alternative a little lighter (and less costly)? I worry that the ARB speced at 360 lbs might cause a trailer to overload the rear end, though I do have airbag load levelers installed. The 3K won't stop me but creating an overweight tank might well.

Your advice would be welcome.

The new family wagon.

1. 1997 LX450
2. Nate
3. Not named yet...
4. 142k
5. OME 2.5 Med, 285' mud tires, factory lockers
6. We've got our first baby on the way and this is the wagon that replaced the built Jeep TJ

I bought this about 2 weeks ago. I put the tires on a few days later and the lift last week. It looks a lot better with them, I think. The Hercules Trail Digger M/T's are on the larger end of 285's and fill it out pretty well. Drives Nice. Also, got new belts, new A/C compressor/service, new O2 Sensor, alignment. The caster correction bushings seemed to help. recommended... Next on the list are Slee's wife friendly "step sliders" and a new stereo head unit. I want the bluetooth audio back. So far, the sale of the Jeep has covered almost all of the new cost of purchase and upgrades/repairs. The other stuff, I'll have to save a little bit.
