Question:

Looking at lifts.

Would an OME medium (2.0”-2.5”) be enough to run a 35” tire? (Without any rubbing)

The formula for an even lift is OME heavy front and medium rear.

That’ll ride pretty rough without any added weight on the front, though, right? I’m Looking to keep the ride smooth.

Or just the J medium front spring. J = 1” longer (that’s what she said)

edit: ^nevermind, I lied... they don’t have a medium J. You could run a 1” spacer up front though.

Not in my experience. It’s a great setup. The front of a 80 is splashy. This settles it nicely and most importantly it is non stink bug.

863/866 is my favorite fit light duty and level

Is the 866 the dual rate spring? They nice. That gives a decent & level ride, but still lets you load up the back when you need to.

Are you putting a bumper and/or winche on this? I’d go medium up front if not. They are a lot stiffer than stock.

866 is the dual rate. Medium lift but overload capacity.

If you put the medium in the front you gets the stank bug

Warren wench or no wench.

No armor or winch. Want a nice level stance with 2-3” over stock height.

There seems to be a lot of differing opinions on this.

@cruiseroutfit , Kurt, what do you think?

I’ve got the medium front/ dual rate rear. It sits dead level. Rear height went down a bit from the heavy springs.

It’s not an 80, but the front and rear height balances are the same. I had heavy rear/J front and it sat level but rode like a dump truck. I am 1000 lbs lighter than an 80 though.

If you have any stink, you can fine tune with spacers to keep the plush medium rate spring. (Which are still a lot stiffer than stock)

If you want to go full on geek, Kurt has a pretty extensive spreadsheet with all of the height and spring rates. You can do the math to see which one you need for the load you plan on running.

Oh, I’m not here arguing at all. Just trying to make sense of everything

Cam is the rocket scientist who is saying his combo is best yet his truck is 1000# lighter.

I’m just the salesperson that has obsessed over level stance Cruisers for 20 years.

863/866

Good thing is that used OME springs bring 85% of their cost used and they are easy to swap in and out.

If you don’t like them swap them out

I would also get iron man pro shocks.

Unloaded, with armor & a Warren, my combo is stiff AF. Like a race car. Loaded with EAF gear, it rides soft, like you’d want for DD duty. I’m guessing mine loaded down is about the same weight as a non-armored 80.

Totally agree on the 866s and the Ironman Pros. The 666 is shorter than the normal rear springs for the level stance, and it’s initial spring rate is in between the medium and heavy, but heavier than the heavy when you load it up. It’ll work with either front spring.

The Ironman Pros are the sh!t.
