Hi

I need some help, shoul i go to a Toyota Dealer or buy in another company Brake Pads for my HDJ 80 from 1990 ?

Several brands available in Europa, like, Brembo, Ferodo, EBS, Bosch .....

But how can i see my Brake System: Sumitomo ???? Akebono ?????

Lots of members like various brands of brake pads and rotors. Most say the Toyota pads are as good or better for the stopping properties we do. (i.e. race brakes work well on race cars, but truck brakes work better on trucks)

The search window in the top right corner of every IH8MUD page gives pretty good search functionality of the forum.

I inicial have done the search in the query, but it didnt help for my question,

" ..But how can i see my Brake System: Sumitomo ???? Akebono ????? .."

i went to the car, and could see in the brake pad writen, SUMITOMO, So i think i need to buy pads for SUMITOMO system.

If you have stock calipers then you should be able to use pretty much any brake pads. The stock Toyota pads are what most people use because they are high quality Toyota parts and last a long time. Do yourself a favor and get 100 series pads for the front axle as they are bigger and will last longer.

Nice. That was another questions that i was going to do. So Toyota pads, and for the front I can use the 100 series pads

Yes. Use 100 series front pads and 80 series rear pads.

autozone offers a lifetime warranty on their premium pads, just exchange them for a new set. You can still order 100 series pads if you want too.

You can pick what advice you accept. I won't mind if you ignore me, if I sound a bit preach-y.

Most people will say you can (or should) use 100 series brakes, because they are bigger. On the other hand, that means bigger than Toyota intended.
Search Results for Query: 100 series brake pads don't fit | IH8MUD Forum[node]=9 led me to All new brakes and a cooked rotor That post said the guy used 100 series pads on brand new rotors. They were tight enough that he burnt the new rotor to blue. You have more room for bigger pads if you use your old rotors.

If you ask enough experts, you will hear conflicting advice. Usually that will include whatever you want to hear.

I recently did brakes all around, 4 sets of pads and rotors. I had all these big plans to do FJ100 parts or EBS, or Brembo, but in the end money was tight after buying a tent and some other gear so I got some PowerStop pads/rotors and they've been quite good thus far. Had them since August and they always feel more than adequate.

I think Napa also has warranty for their premium pads and they stop great.

I'm running EBC Green Stuff and they come from England so they might be available in the Land of the Euro.
Sumitomo and Akebono are brake suppliers in cohorts with Toyota so they both offer very good product.
Akebono's are on a lot of Lexus.
If all else fails go OEM.
The 100 Series pads leave an unused edge on the pad that can be ground off.
