Are all 80 series axles the same? I am considering buying a wreck, haven't seen it yet, would part it out if worth it. I might use the axles if they have 4.10's etc. Its a 92 so probably no lockers. I'm thinking its not worth more than 1k, any input?

From reading here, for the 93 thru 97, there are some differences between the axles (primarily the diff. housings) and axle shafts for the locked versus unlocked versions. Not for sure about the 91 and 92's.

there's a few minor differences in the pumpkins. actually I just wanted to use the term 'pumpkins' sorry, won't do it again.

Kief,

There are a lot of differences in the 92 axles and the 93+ axles. The front have a smaller drive flange. The rear are drum brake and semi-floater. No OEM locker was available in the 91-92 axles.

All 91-97 80's came stock (to the US market) with 4.10s. Most 93+ 80's will have rear disk brakes and full floater rear axle.

In the Denver area they sell for around $1200 with e-locker, Brad.

So they are more like the 60 series axles before 93?

No,
they are semi float and without abs. -B- is on the money it is a semi float rear and drum breaks. the inner axle shafts on the fornt will match up with the earlier (93 or 94) but if your truck has abs they will require refitment of the abs rings and possibly a different drive flange and or spacers. they are the same size as the fzj (93-97) series trucks and have 4.10 gears in them but there are differences. If you pick it up to part out where are you???

Thinking about a spare 3FE to play with at the moment so post up.
and if memory serves me correctly cruiser parts had the earlier style non locking axles for around 650.

I am near Medford, Oregon which is in SW by I-5. Basically I will buy it for the right price mainly to part out. I might go see it tomorrow (Thursday). I just hate to see a ruined rig just sit- at someone else's house.

up for grabs...j

manuf. date was 8-91. Burgundy with tan leather interior and 3rd row seats, interior has gotten wet. lots of buttons and stuff missing, OME lift AFAIK. 150K on motor, started fine but stalled, smelled rich on start up ran a little rough, then stalled. Supposedly been rebuilt within 500 miles, been sitting 7 months. Good hood front left fender, grill and head lights-very hard roll/flip, if you speak spanish call 541-772-4853, other wise Call Sermin 541-951-9386. No affiliation, you're on your own if you want stuff or the whole rig. Asking price was $1500, I mentioned $500 and he didn't comment. Located in White City, Oregon, near Medford.
