I just recieved my remote from keylessride, $80 with shipping. The case has some deep scratches, fairly worn in, and general wear. Not worth fighting about, but I got my last used one off eBay for $20. I would've waited and taken my chances on eBay again if I'd known it'd be used. Maybe the insides are reconditioned, dunno. I checked the paperwork and website, no mention that this might be used.
Wow, when my remotes were rough, I searched and searched and finally found a place called remotes unlimited. I purchased two perfectly new remotes from them for thirty dollars each! I cannot imagine spending eighty on a used unit. Now, I understand that there are two to three different types of alarms available as 'port' items so maybe my remote type is different from the remote types that scottm was wanting but this remotes unlimited place advertises an amazing variety of remotes. Check them out: www.remotesunlimited.com . They dont list by make and model, they list the FCC codes stamped on the back of the remotes so have that handy. Ohh yes, no affiliation, etc etc etc. HTH.
I called my local dealer today who said he can't do nuttin' for me with keyless entry. Recommended a place who would sell and install a system for $120. Just keyless (2 fobs w/ panic), no alarm. Add $100 for alarm and another c-note for remote start.
Or call your brother who's got 2 brand new ones laying around 'cause he never uses the alarm in Idaho.... Send it back, buy a new one from Dan and take her to dinner with the money you saved.
...or you could do what worked for me with onlyremotes.com--demand a return/refund because it was misrepresented, but then offer to keep it for a reasonable price. For me, it was $25--used eBay prices. They agreed immediately.
