Maybe time for a V8 conversion!?

Driver's side front corner, I would suspect battery or fuse block. Better that it happened on the road and not parked in the garage. On the 4th, I helped a neighbor suppress a battery fire on their Mercedes SUV parked in the garage, just kept the flames down with 2 garden hoses and my 5lb ABC extinguisher from my garage until the FD could get there and hose it down.

It's a shame, and that was the 2nd car fire I've helped to keep from becoming an even bigger problem (house fires scare the crap out of me!),

Any extinguisher can only keep an electrical fire suppressed at best (until it runs out). The main reason I carry cable cutters in my side pouch. Electrical fires #1 with vehicle BBQ's

Sad day....

Yeah sad to see. I wonder if it has lockers? :hmm:

You know somebody had to say it.

Fire = scary

Very true, ran into a Car-B-Que on Saturday morning. The guy parked it, went inside and heard a loud bang. Figured the battery blew. Got it put out with a hose and I advised him on removing the battery terminal for that reason. He appreciated the gesture, said he never considered that. Folks think when the fire is out, the ignition source must have gone away too but typically the battery was and will definitely be the ignition source now that all your wires are melted together. I had a Chevy Truck nearly light up after my battery cable touched my new headers. Popped the hood after it stalled and saw a cherry red battery cable that I beat with a 2x4, which luckily I had in the bed, until it broke. Saved my truck but wasn't confident during the assault.

Great advice to keep the cutters in the door pocket.

Also, a good reminder that the main reason a battery will blow up is that when it is low on water, and allows for explosive gases to form in the air gap.
Keep your battery filled!

Optima, FTW! I know there are vents on these, too however. I've heard very few reports of Optimas bursting into flames, though.
