@bluecruiser and @paflytyer - What should we expect for the potluck? In planning a dish for the potluck, I realized my 2-4 person camp cook gear might not cut it for a several person potluck. My question is, how much food should we plan to make for this? Additionally, what meals are covered with the meal tickets purchased at registration? I certainly don't want to overpack, because I know Silverton Grocery, Clarks Market and Ducketts Market are well stock stores in the event something is needed :)

Came close to going last year so maybe someday. Lucky enough to drive through the area this past weekend taking the Million Dollar Highway. Amazing area and will get back there soon. Have a great time you all.

SO READY FOR HIH7!!

The meal tickets will cover the Saturday night catered dinner. A local BBQ joint will be the source and we will eat at camp (fingers crossed outside). As far as the Friday potluck, I would recommend doing what you can. We have seen everything from a full blown jambalaya cook off that could have fed 200 people from the pride of Louisiana to someone once dropping off a frozen apple pie at the table. Both legendary in their own way. There are local stores that you can purchase from, as well. Even a couple 6 packs of primo beers is a nice contribution to the group.

Thanks

Yes...the beers! I remember going and we brought like 5 big bags of chips or something. I have no idea what we are going to do this year...INSTANT MASHED POTATOES!!!!!!

The intent is to bring a little of your local flavor for the group to share. Our first time out we did Maryland crab cakes and this year we will make a few Philly cheesesteaks. Cut them up into small pieces for folks to try. No cheese wiz though!

Pairs nicely with Yuengling. Too bad they sold out and are now distributed everywhere.

I'm bring at least a case of Deschutes Brewery beers. Maybe an Abyss and Black Butte Porter 29 Birthday Reserve or two if there's room... ;)

Going to bring some of the better Delaware Dogfish brews as well as some DuClaw, Blue Earl and Dominion to cover the First State.

I am not sure Kansas has a flavor... besides plain and middle of the road. We love cheese wiz!

As a Director, I am now invoking Article 6.72 of the HIH Regulations. "Director shall review all beverages prior to entrance to event. If beverage is intriguing, it shall be peacefully passed to Director" ;)

Speaking of beer for the directors, perhaps I can do a good deed and clean out the attic at the same time:

I have a Coleman duel fuel stove that has been sitting unused since I scored a deal on a Partner Stove. It isn't as nice as a $300+ Partner, but it definitely gets the job done.

If anyone wants it, I can throw it in the back of the truck and bring it along. I'll set the price at one 12-pack a piece for our two esteemed Co-Directors.

Cookware, wife and picnic table not included in sale:

Has anyone ever towed a small travel trailer through the million dollar highway? We'll be heading south from Yellowstone and I noticed the route takes me through Ouray. I drove it last year with no trailer and didn't think it was too bad but everything is different with a trailer.

In other news, i failed miserably at fixing the AC so it's now at Fresno Lexus getting the front evaporator replaced (after I replaced the rear evaporator) for stupid amounts of money to spend on a 98. Oh we'll, it's going to be worth it. 7 days til we leave. Can't wait.

yes i towed a small Ruger trailer, RTT, full of camp gear over several mtn passes in CO, Million Dollar Hwy was one of them.

@mattafact I HIGHLY recommend a trip to Glacier, get there in the next 5 years before the glaciers are all gone. Realize this doesn't answer your question, but saw the Yellowstone note.

@87warrior

I as had a question along those same lines. I have some fresh local fare to share. Hoping to borrow or find time on a grill.
