Question re: BIOR bumper delivery.

What is being taken down? A single rear bumper? @marcfj60 @MikeSmith
I only ordered a rear bumper (with tire swingout). But I don't have any knowledge of other orders or merchandise Mike is bringing.

For those of you traveling through Denver enroute to HIH, I'd like to suf
I will have your rear bumper and a set of skid plates. I may have found someone to help. I will know in the next day or so.

Thanks

I'll send you an email Mike. I may already be pulling a trailer, but if not, I can help. Not returning until Tuesday at the earliest though.

Any apps that have these trails mapped to be used offline? Or an app that can have them mapped? I have Gaia? And Google off line maps. I hoping for something like a trip advisor or yelp for backcountry roads and trails. I do have the spiral bound book with the trails in, but paper is sooooo 10 years ago. :)

Motion X GPS is my go-to app for maps while wheeling. Areas that you specify can be downloaded for offline use which is very helpful for those remote 'no service' locations. It has Apple, Google, and Bing road, satellite, terrain, and hybrid maps, along with NOAA marine maps and many other useful map types. It can also record your tracks which allows you to save each individual trail under their respective name or save an entire roadtrip (these can be shared via email, SMS, etc...)

I am renting an Rpod too in Durango. The RV rental owner advised me not too fill the tanks with water to help the climb to Silverton. We might be renting from the same RV dealer

I will be driving with my family from south Texas stopping in Durango and picking up a 20 foot R pod 179 as a rental. I'm concerned with my lack of trailer pulling experiences and the size of the trailer especially with the incline going up Kendall mountain. The owner of the RV rentals has a 4.7 tundra and he keeps telling me that my truck is more than capable of pulling the R pod to Kendall Rec Center. He says these models are lighter than some pop-ups. Having no experience in this field can I get your opinion on this?

You're 40 years old. Nobody will judge you for using a paper map.

And some of us will appreciate the always-on, never need a recharge, markable, emergency-fire-startable nature of paper maps - don't knock'em! (IMHO)

I'm actually looking for good paper ones for the SW of CO and SE of UT, anyone have some Amazon links of ones they like? (for instance in C.O. the RAMS Game Mgmt Maps are my pref'd)

<UPDATE> APPARENTLY GOOGLE LIMITS THE MAPS TO 10 LAYERS SO THIS WON'T WORK THERE, SORRY. IF SOMEONE FINDS ANOTHER SITE TO DO THIS ON PLEASE START IT, THE RESPONSE WAS ENTHUSIASTIC AND FAST. ALTERNATELY, IF SOMEONE HAS THE TIME YOU *CAN* MANUALLY EXPORT 10 LAYERS ONCE THEY FILL UP, EDIT THE KMZ, DELETE ALL THE LAYERS AND UPLOAD, WAIT FOR THE NEXT 9 PEOPLE TO ADD THEIR ROUTE, REPEAT, ETC ETC. PERSONALLY I CAN'T SPARE THAT TIME THO.

I thought it might be fun to see where everyone is coming from so threw together a Google Map that everyone can enter their route on:
HIH 2017 - The Migration

If you are unfamiliar with how it works, simply click 'add directions'

And then after you add your route, in whatever granularity you want to share, rename the layer to your handle (or not, your call):

This way we will have at least a clue as to who to ask for good places to eat, trails to run, camping spots, etc etc!

Super stoked for it finally to be here, but carp I wish I had more time to get some stuff ready ;(

If you can wait until arriving in Silverton, there is a sporting goods store there with lots of good maps.

Yeah, 10 layer limit.
GRRRRRR - did not know of this, looking into hax to fix...

If anyone know another method/service please chime in

I suspect you could export the various direction layers to a KML, then import the KML into a new map. Each set of directions should be an individual line in the new map and they all should be able to be placed under one layer. I have never tried this, but it should work. I'd give it a whirl but the IT department gets cranky when I export files from online sources

I think I have reached the legit part of the "before the trip, is everything ready" freak out stage! For sanity, I think I am just going to throw the CB in truck and tune the antenna, then pretty it up after the trip. Then I will do the "keep all the 12 volt outlets hot" trick instead of installing a real fuse block to run everything, including the friggin giant fridge I have in the back.

DEEP BREATH...
