@paflytyer and @bluecruiser ...

Just throwing it out for suggestion - what if we coordinated a CB tuning session on wed or thurs night with fellow Mudders who have a SWR meter. I am in the same boat as some here where I just bought a CB and antenna and installed it. Im running a Cobra 75 WX ST with a Firstik Firering coax and Firstik 4' antenna with spring and quick disconnect. Not sure if I'm tuned up correctly or not. I *think* I get +/- 1 mile reception right now. Not sure if tuning will improve that. If we get a couple guys with meters, we could knock out some rigs and improve communication all weekend.

Cost of entry to CB tuning session is your favorite local microbrew 6 pack?? ;) ... plus it's a great way to meet others.

If it doesn't work out - no big deal, just thinking about event enhancement.

Is it July yet???

Very good idea!

I'll try to remember to bring my SWR meter as well.

I've always kept a k30 magnetic antenna already hooked up in the back of the 100 and pop it up top when needed but can take it off for parking decks and not be subject to someone grabbing it . You can see it on the back on my old 100.

I've used a 20 year old compact Cobra CB for years, but I'm throwing that in my heep and switching CBs to the midland 75-82 because it can also be a handheld.
Midland 75-822

I also have a $35 baofeng? amazon-special radios with the programming cable, but have no idea what to do with it.

Study for test, take test, download Chirp, program radio, receive call sign and start having fun!

I have the Gamiviti fender mount for my ham antenna. Perfect fit :)

Well I'm registered and in! And a first-timer and a newb and super excited! And just now getting around to getting on this thread, further proving what a newb I actually am. I'll be coming all the way from MS, bringing wife and 12 year old son, working this into the tail end of a longer cross-country trip. I'm new to this group, new to wheeling, but looking forward to meeting everyone! If my rig survives the first 2,000 miles of my journey, I'll see y'all there!

@JRidge ^ Cool. I'm assuming you are a CLC member? I know all those guys well. Look forward to seeing you there.
I don't know if I'm an official CLC member or not, LOL. I'm a TLCA member and I put CLC down as my local chapter but I don't think I' ve ever paid dues to the local club, something I probably need to rectify ASAP! I've been to a few of the meetings, know several of the guys. WNGROG is a good friend and responsble for introducing me to this world. Looking forward to meeting you and the others.

@COGerding What antenna mount is that? Looking to install a CB for HIH and since LabRak seems not be building theirs anymore this one looks similar.

Tom

I used this one designed for a 3rd gen 4runner. I just altered it by cutting it shorter and drilling new holes

Insain Fab 3rd gen Antenna Mount

looks very similar to @COGerding . I have used it for over a year now, no problems.

@DJCloz That is a great idea. I had seen that mount for the 4Runner (or style) and never even thought about modifying it to fit the Land Cruiser.

I know that this is off topic... but with everyone adding CBS for HIH we may see more of these show up!

totally agree, currently trying to fit the fire stick version as others have done

One of our largest supporters has stepped up big once again! Expect a large showing from IH8MUD at HIH7.

This event would never happen without @woody and IH8MUD. The HIH7 shirt that is included with registration will proudly display the IH8MUD logo on the front! Very cool.

If you do not have an upgraded account here on MUD........ https://forum.ih8mud.com/account/upgrades

It's the best $20 you'll spend on this site. Support those that support us.

Ih8mud, Thank You!

HIH supporting Vendors will have my support!

Stan, can you post a list on mud of those Vendors?

@paflytyer , about 4 months ago I met a guy from Santa Maria CA who is starting his own RTT company and he told me you and him were discussing his company's adds in the magazines you are working for.
I talked to him about HIHs and how he could support and sponsor the event and he was super excited to give it a shot since he was already chatting with you, even tho he had no 100 series! He has a 40 instead (I sold him a seat for the back of it).
I'm just wondering if it sounds familiar to you and if anything came out of that!
I'll dig around to find more solid info on him and the company since I don't remember from the top of my head!

By any chance do you guys know if Bump it off road is near HIH7 route? looking to pick up some stuff on the way.
