Has anyone tried ordering an O.E.M. waterpump from Toyota? The pump that I have currently has a third port that is capped off. Would this be for an oil cooler or Calif. Vehicle? S.O.R. shows pump 054-24D that is the pump that I think I need. Toyota says that the U.S pump does not come up in the computer any more, but the Canada pump does. Would the Canada pump be the same as the U.S. pump?

I don't know what is available and what isn't, but I got a 76 California water pump about 2 years ago from Cruiserdan. It had the oil cooler output and did not use a fan clutch. I would try that before I ran an aftermarket pump, though Napa had a complete and accurate list when I was looking.

That extra port on the waterpump (for the oil cooler) makes a fine place to put the sending unit for a mechanical watertemp gauge...

bringing this back to the top. :)

I have a '77 2F without the oil cooler. Am I understanding this correctly that I can use the later pump with the oil cooler connector if I block it off? If so, what should I use to block it with?

I am using a bypass cap, NAPA part # 660-1696

I completely replaced my cooling system (all OEM) a few months ago on my 78 (Federal), including the water pump (no oil cooler). Everything came from Toyota, I even put the pump on before I noticed the pulley, etc. was not right. I think it was the Canadian - don't order it. Ended up with one from SOR (AISIN) that seemed like even better quality and looked just like the old one I took off (and yes 054-24D).
