So it's time to start clearing out projects and the driveway (have had 3 separate 40 projects going this past year). I currently have a primary 40 I wheel, I don't really need a second one. It will make someone a great resto-mod 40 with some body work or a solid wheeling truck with a bit less. I purchased it back in 2013 and it has been side-lined so I would like to pass along to someone else to enjoy. A lot of new components, truck mainly needs some time and TLC to complete.

The Good

1976 FJ40 (Oct 1975)
Chevy 327 (Engine ID F0723S, block casting #3782870) - runs strong. (PO sold to me as recently rebuilt, but no paperwork to prove)
Edelbrock 750cfm 4 barrel carb
Edelbrock Performer intake manifold
GM Ram Horn exhaust manifolds (#3932465)
MSD ignition
Optima Yellow Top Battery
Kwik wiring harness
H41 4sp transmission
Stock transfer case
4.11 differential gears

Rear disc brake conversion - available (not installed)

The Bad
  1. Wiring needs to be completed. Engine runs fine, headlights work but, needs gauges, turn, hazard, rear harnesses completed - have all wiring, diagrams and stock harness as well.
  2. Needs exhaust system - currently just open manifolds (very annoying for my neighbors)
  3. Needs Shocks - no fronts or rears
  4. Needs anti-inversion shackles turned around properly (yes, they are on backwards/upside down)
  5. Needs 5th tire mounted - no spare rim
  6. Body work - rear sill, rear quarters rough (front , floor boards and cowl in good shape)- rust has been cut out. Can see rocker sills are not bad in pics, hard top has rust at bottom channels. Hood had had some rust cut out and patched.
  7. Steering wheel - horn grounds are rusted/broken. Wheel is in good shape.
  8. Front driveshaft needed. Front axle not cut and turned. Will need double cardin joint. Have stock front driveshaft for donor.
  9. No dash pad
As to pricing, I am pretty firm on $7500.
From the list above, you can see the value if you chose to part out. In full disclosure, I bought the 40 for $3900 in 2013 and have receipts for all I have invested for $5,500. So total I have tied up is $9,400 so I feel $7500 is a fair price...

Price dropped to $6500.
(Will pull second set of ambulance doors, soft doors, and rear disc conversions and try parting separate.)

**Will consider further price drop without new winch/mounting plate.

*Update - flipped all 4 anti-inversion shackles this weekend so they are all sitting properly now.

Huge thank you to Nik for letting this project go! I'll take great care of her! Can't wait for the rig to ship down to Louisiana. First FJ40 project!
