1973 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40



250straight six from a 1969 Chevelle, 4 speed FJ40 transmission and 4WD transfer case. Holly 4 barrel carburetor, K&N cold air intake attached to a Safari Snorkel. Replaced Clutch Master cylinder, slave cylinder, clutch plate and bearing. Upgraded brake master cylinder and front disk brake calipers from a FJ62, new front pads and rotors.

Upgraded FJ62 power steering unit from stock manual steering. New Optima red top battery, radiator and water pump. 5 brand new 33” tires. Custom new wiring harness with external relay box (2 relays are used for front and rear spotlights) 3 remaining relays are prewired for future accessories. Front headlights upgraded to H4 style removable bulbs.

Custom “family roll cage”, brand new heavy duty ARB reproduction bull-bar imported from Australia in 2019. Front hubs rebuilt late 2019 with new seals and bearings. Two custom built steel half doors from Relik Garage that I haven’t installed yet.



I have many boxes of spare parts, repair manuals. Original pre “73 doors, hard sides and rear hatch door all have original glass and are in great condition. Fiberglass hard top, spare set of barn style lower rear doors. Spare warn front locking hubs and birfs to match. I have the original front seats and rear side ways seats (fronts need to be reupholstered) I have Jeep seats mounted at the moment so I could safely drive the family around.

Sounds like you’ve done a lot but you need to post more photos of the body and underside, etc.
 
Interesting engine choice. Was the original engine shot? Where did you find that old straight 6, does it have good compression and run well?
