So with all these threads about stretching a 40, drooling over the aqualu tubs, I finally decided to just make my own. I honestly can not shell out that kind of money at once, wife would kill me! The '73 I have has been in our family since it was new and it is a rust bucket, having spent time in Guam and been in almost every state! I can remember digging sand out from running the dunes in Arizona! It has a carb'ed 350 with stock 3 speed transmission and tcase. My plan is for a fuel injected 350, auto tranny and tcase to match. Probably D60/14b for axles and want to be in the 37" tire range, minimum. It will be a daily driver and plan for light wheeling and camping. Anyway, I am to a point where I need advice......the quad cab doors, I took out 6" from them and can't decide if I should take out more? Photos coming.....

Looks good man, real nice. Proportion wise I reckon you could run a stock door, but the shortened one looks good also. That frame, are you gonna plate the joins? How do you feel about buying a wrecked 40 for all the little parts, like the the door shuts and so on?

Looks good!

i look forward to seeing how it looks with the trim work completed.

Really cool build !
Whats your plan your the pillars ?

I was planing on making all the replacement panels out of 16g after seeing some recent posts of people making there own. Time is something I have more of than money! For the b pillar thinking of making it the same height as the stock door and plan on running a soft top. Will leave the c pillar stock height. Have been looking for wrecked ones, but they always come up at the wrong time! Will be plating all joints on the frame, inside and out. Friend on mine suggested plating the inside and plug welding them, wish I would have gone that route for a smooth clean look. Anyway have two more days til it's back to work and off to Lafayette for work.
