Replace the hose that drains the vent. There is one on the PS & DS. I use heater hose

OOOOH! that is the fun part. Reach up in there remove and replace. I stuck mine through the firewall first. Passenger side not to bad, but the Driver side, because of the bend, is a little difficult. remove the defrost duct first.

Yes, the hose just slips on....I think I used 5/8 inch heater hose.

I have the same problem. I was going to just live with it, now I guess I gotta try to replace some hoses.

i beat myself up ...

and then switched to 1/2 inch hose. was easirer to press the smaller hose over the nipple than to squeez the 5/8 through the fire wall.

just a thought.

These are molded hoses. The one on the driver's side has a couple sharpe bends. Both run on the outside of the firewall to the bottom of the cowl. I would but them new if Toyota still has.

would a 10/76 model still have those?

You have a non-working vent but the grill is still there. You should have two holes in your transmission cover on either side of the heater. That is where your drains go. It's a better setup because it doesn't have any bends. They don't plug up as easy.
