  • I mocked up the 71 (I think they are 71 at least) jump seats in my 73 parts fj & noticed there is very little clearance for a roll bar. I know these years did not come with a roll bar, but have started to second guess myself. the 71 has a cage in there from an unknown origin & I was going to replace that at some time but wondering even if I did that, would there be room. it looks like i have to put it right agains the quarter panel to have any hope of fitting. I placed the seats so that the entire rubber spacer was against the wheelhouse. will this seat work with a roll bar, can I get my hard top back on with the bar so close to the outside? thanks in advance.

Most guys who add the factory roll bar go with the later, shorter seats that fit between the rails.

Here's how my 71's long jump seats were mounted. They currently are at the upholsterer's and I must confess I never really paid attention whether the current mount location made sense.

$OR makes a kit to space out early long jump seats to allow them to fit with a roll bar... might check it out. I'm gonna pick one up one of these days when I can afford it.

I did not know that. Thanks for the heads up.
