Hey,
New to this and i am looking into buying a cruiser for a weekend car to go camping and 4x4 in with a mate.

Just wanting to know what ppls opinions are on what model is the best cruiser to go with.

Has to be manual
would prefere it to be turbo diesel
but even standard diesel would be ok

Would probably look at doing a 3 inch lift maybe with 33s

Pretty much just interested in what would be the best option to go and keeping in mind its just a weekend car so somthing under $8 000 so i can play with it and do some mods and the car not end up costing me a fortune.

cheers.

Depends what country you are in and it looks like oztralia.

For me in malaysia it's a 70 because road tax for a 80 is more than most earn in amonth e.g >$1000usd a year and it was $4000usd a year.

I am partial to the lj77 because it's light and we really bAsh them hard in the
mud a 80 No one wants to recover it or drive over a log bridge after a buffalo has been on it least it breAks or it gets stuck as it will take 2-3 lj77"s to recover a 80,

look at hultys 70 or 71 awesome little toy.

So u need more input from the country where u live and not me haha.

for a weekend truck mate, best value for moneyat ur price is a BJ74 cruiser i rekon

depends on what your after.
70 series is a bit more rugged and only what you need.
80s are mall cruisers.

depends on how much space you looking for.

I like wagons and space .. so 80 for me .. but if there is a tight trail .. there is no better option than 70 series .. ( perfect should be if exist HDJ74 :D ) MWB Cruiser ..

My all time favorite weekend cruiser is the KZJ 73 in the VX edition,it's comfortable, economical but still fast enough thanks to the 1KZ engine and it's got all the nice stuff like coilsprings E Lockers, electric windows and so on,the only bad thing about this one is that it doesn't like to haul giant trailers.

Just my 2 cents

IMO the 80 is the best all purpose Land Cruiser. It has a ton of space inside. You can fit a large air matress inside no problem. The 1HDT is capable of pulling a small trailer with ease. And if your planning to do any sort of highway driving the creature comforts are really nice. Cruise control, power windows, AC, maybe leather seats.

If you using it for exploring/camping it is more than enough vehicle for your needs. 33's or 35's a winch and it will go anywhere you point it.

A week after selling your 81 and your already trash talking them! :flipoff2:

Mall cruiser...

Ok here.

A Cable locked, 1HZ-T-I, Locked Five speed HZJ77.
That truck would rule. It would also rule in just about any other HZJ7*

Don't forget the budget was 8g 1hdt 80 for that price ... Not in aus anyways

Also would help benwa if you state what part of the world ur from different countrys get different models and specs of cruisers

I didn't read the budjet part. You'd not find a 1HDT cruiser anywhere for 8k. Over here there are a ton of gasser 80s. (North America) Heavy on fuel but solid vehicles. You could pick one up for 5k and add 5k worth of mods and have a great camping, wheeling vehicle.

In japan you could find one for about 9 grand.
Then you have to get it here, taxes, compliance, inspection and a s*** ton of maintenance because its going to need it.

all in about 14 to 15 grand if not more.
