Ive got a 72 FJ40 with a Chevy 327 and the factory 3 spd and trns case. If I put a 700R4 in it, will I need a new rear axle?
Thanks for any and all advice,

Almost always, and it's very hard for Downey or AA to pre-determine if you will need to modify shafts or not because of different tranny lengths, different adapter lenghts/choices, and different kinds of motor mounting and/or radiator clearance issues. All you can do is put the drivetrain into the best position possible, then modify shafts as necessary.i've got a 327and M22 from 66 Vette with an overdrive that the PO installed in 72. if i were to go 700r4 and either stay 327 or go 383 will i need to to make mods to my shafts?
thanks in advance!
