That pretty red paint could be hiding a lot of sins. The wheels are fugly. I wouldn't drive it with that brake setup further than the brake shop.

Great price so far though, even if it's a project.

Normally anything fj45 around Redwood City is either being bought or sold by Whitey45. Comments amigo?

Hi Ed,
It is definitely a respray and they didn't do a good job. There is one spot on the cab that has cancer, but no bondo or sins I could see. I agree on the brakes. I just finished changing to dual on my 40, though the brakes were good in this 45 when I took it for a test drive. MC looks new.

yeah, but he wants $16K to buy now. I thought $10K is a fair price for this truck.

I was surprised to see Brian not involved with this. Guess it was owned by a doctor in town for many years. Now consigned for sale.

Ed, don't know if you remember me but I met you on my first fj45 run and you clipped some pics of me. :)

Cheers
Johann

Good deal currently at 10k and still not a bad buy in the 12-14 range.....looks very original/complete minus the wheels and rear bumper.

Did I miss something on the brakes

I know the guy selling it, cant believe it was local all this time. He told me it was painted 15 years ago, so the body must be in good shape. I told him 10k easy but 16 is a stretch, these are getting very hard to find now and a quick wheel change and a few updates and it would make a nice driver.i might be able to take a look at it, i think they are selling at no reserve, and i could store it for anyone interested! Let me know!

I looked at this and really would like to have it, but can't have both the 40 and this :) Hope it goes to a MUD member and I would have it checked out by Brian (whitey45).

Single circuit is my biggest issue, but if you're going to upgrade...

.

Roger that, thought that is what you guys were talking about, but wasn't sure. I know a lot of people go running and screaming when they see single circuit set-ups but honestly it is a mis concept that they are "dangerous". They have severed many of these early cruisers for half a century without fail, all my early cruisers have had the original single circuit and have severed me without fail over thousands of miles.... just took my FJ45LPB on a 1,000 mile trip loaded down with nearly a half ton of gear without issue. Are they antiquated by todays standards? Sure, but they shouldn't stop anyone from enjoying a cruiser and feeling safe while doing so:beer:

and sorry for the rant, I just feel like the single circuits are given a reputation they don't deserve :hillbilly:

Single circuit scares me, but mine works fairly well. Aside from having had a piston stick (on a sheet if ice , no less), they work just fine.

Its fun to be able to lock up your tires. :D

Sent from my Pandora box, ya peckerwoods.

So says the guy who has never had his brakes fail.

As long as you agree that it's a single point-of-failure, I don't have much of an argument. Our family had a Peterbilt flatbed with no front brakes at all. Did it work? Yup. Was it safe? Kinda.

Agreed

and a properly maintained system likely never will, I know there are exceptions most notably Gene.... but honestly driving a 50 year old vehicle is a risk in itself and doesn't make much sense from a safety stand point to begin with wether it has single or dual circuits. Honestly our chances of getting t-boned by some goober texting on his phone while driving are much more likely than having the singles ever fail, but that doesn't stop you or I from hopping into our vehicles everyday..... Thus I will keep rocking my single circuits and everybody can tell me how crazy I am but single circuit brakes are the least of my worries when I am on the road:beer:

If its a 66 why the windshield frame vent?
