Is it possible or do I need to use a different axel? If it is possible would someone who knows what is going on be so kind to list out exactly what I need to make the swap? Discs all the way around.

64 fj 40 disk brake conversion

Try JT OUTFITTERS. 4 wheel disk conversion kit $999.

You will also need : dual circuit masrer cylinder ( usually from '74 on LC) , new brake lines through out ('58 to '68 used 9mm thread dia fittings, thereafter 10mm.....so you need new 10mm brake lines and fittings to match up with JT OUTFITTERS disk brake kit). Likely need wheel spacers ($6 ea)...clearance issues between new rotors ( vs existing drums) with stock welded period correct wheels.

Just went through all this with 1966 FJ45 stock drum brake to front disk conversion.
- sourced dual circuit MC from parts donor ('76 FJ 45) (NB: MC and booster ( added power brakes at same time...highly recommended) requires an adapter to go from 3 bolt pattern where OEM MC bolts to firewall to the 4 bolt pattern my dual circuit, ,76 MC uses....$60 JT OUTFITTERS....alternate is cutting and welding your firewall and drilling new 4 bolt pattern....note this adapter route creates clearance issues with OEM air cleaner...many simple ways around this).
- new 10 mm lines front and back
- SS lines to calipers come with kit

As its A WIP, will post pics when complete. So far (50%) , no issues.

I would swap the front axel. You have a ball and claw.. Not very strong.

I will have my front axle with disks available soonish . . .

Why? Aren't you doing a restoration? You should read destin's thread. And then start a new thread about your project and share what's going on. Oh and BTW, early brake (and lots of other stuff) isn't exactly compatible with later stuff nor is there much of an aftermarket for it unless you do wholesale upgrades. You'd be better off staying stock with the '64 or selling the '64 and buying a newer rig that has more current components and better aftermarket support
