Am I the only one who times by vacuum gauge and ear?

So I took the liberty of snapping a pic of what I believe is the timing light hole. It definitely is not an easy hole to find. So i'm sure shining a timing light in it is a task

Yup that is the place and normally there is a small window (piece of metal with a screw) that can be slid over the opening to keep debris out. Most of us have lost the item long ago.
