Thanks Guys!

Thats a cool picture SpikeStrip! lots of groundclearance ;)

chicago; i run tacks, an inch, inch-and-a-half apart, then go back, tack some more, and still have warpage issues, Im too impatient:eek: But thin Arakawa metal will warp like hell if you just run a bead. I'll take some pictures of it.

Baxter650; Im not sure what you mean, close up the rearmost and frame the sidedoor windows like the rearmost?

serenity; Nope! I keep the standard length, since I wan't to use it for camping and like the 2meter bed. Another thing is that it would be hell to MOT it if I cut the frame shorter.
I have raised the rear quarterpanels 4" as you can see in the pic below.

And to all the rest of you, Thanks for the support! It really helps when a doorlock won't fit and it keeps me on the project!'s all around!!!

This one of a kind 60 will cause some SERIOUS neck damage or worse for all those who drive by it and can't believe their eyes. Be proud, you have vision and talent.

Btw, both the 1/4's and the rockers are 14 gauge (2mm) inside and out, adding a little sideprotection;)

I think I will call it "GUN METAL", which will refer to the color I'm thinking about...

hey tofudebeest, Thanks! I love Gary Larson!

update! Got a few hours in on the cruiser today, a bit detailwork, grinding and stuff, but also found a solution on a problem that really have been giving me headaches! That little stupid rubber gizmo holding the windowchannel in the front door. Asd I wrote earlier, I have replaced the front part of the frame, but since rust in that corner seems to be a recurring problem I wanted to try something else. And I found aq solution that goes well with my widened windowframe.
The channel inside the door was to short for my plans, but I had the leftovers from the rear doors, it is not an exact match, but the rubber weatherstrips fit, and it does the same, just both inside the rear door, and exposed. This also explains the difference in profile.
You can see this in picture 1.

Next step was to move the mounting bracket from the old (rusty) channel to the new one, this you can see in 2 and 3.

Next, a testfit! and, it might not be that easy to se, but the new (rustfree) channel line perfectly up with the frame!
For support on the inside I welded on a triangle. so to fit the channel it is just a matter of sliding it up in place and secure it at the bottom, just like factory!

A shot of the channel installed. I plan to use the rubberchannel from the backdoor to lengthen the one made for the door. This way I get the same rubberprofile all the way. It should be possible to glue them together with cyanoacrylate, I have tried gluing rubber with it before, and I could not rib it apart, if my life had depended on it!

Btw, in these "modern" times, the name "gun metal" might have some negative connotations, so new name for the build::idea:

FJ40Peru, aka Alonso: Thank's! I wouldn't have done if my body was fresh, but it was pretty bad... I'd be glad to send you some pics, but what do you want to se, that you can't see here? ( You know you can right-click and save them right?)

TOMORROW IS CRUISERDAY!!!! MUAHAHAHAAAAA! :)

I am truly sorry that my ugly mug defiled the true beauty of a HJ60
:shotts: It shall never happen again!

Btw, Am I the only one that thinks it's a bit weird that we know what each others Cruisers look like, but not each other?
(Except of course Spike Strip, who flaunt's his rather staresman like appearance:D)
On the same note, it seems that I am the only one who uses his own name... Never been any good at this enternet.....

JajAjjaJAJAjaJajajajaAJja THX man!

one sick truck christian, looking like something out of a mad max movie! viva la battlewagon!

Great vision, great execution.

Christian, are you seriously comparing my little 7 cm x 4 cm patch on the door to your rebuilding 1/3 of the entire door jamb?

My statement in the other thread stands, my man. Thanks for the compliment, but you da man!

I have to agree with a lot of people here, great work and more importantly great ideas and congratulations for following through with them. I, like many, have endless ideas and no time to follow through, looks like it will be a nice truck when it's finished. Nice to see you're not cutting corners and replacing the rust with real steel.

Yup! I compare! you can't judge the skill of the fabricator on the amount of rust that needs changing! If that were true I'd be in top ten! :flipoff2: What I compare is the quality of the welds and grinding... But all that aside, lets stop comparing, we all do our best to keep our old trusty rigs, that's what counts!

And as I've said before, I am truly grateful that I've found IH8MUD, a great ressource of knowledge and inspiration, but most of all a lot of great people! to all!

A quick update:

I have been busy with a lot of stuff, so I haven't had much Cruiser-time.
But managed to get a few hours in changing the bottom of the door, IH8RUST!!!
Boring job, but doors don,t come cheap here, IF you can find them!
I am looking forward to start on the other side!!

Looks great.
Keep chippin' away at that mountain of work, and soon enough, you'll have it beat.
VIVA LA JUGGERNAUT!
