time for an update!

I have beaten some more sheetmetal into submission, the more i do this, the better i get! :)

On the front passenger door, the windowframe was rusted through, but I had a piece of the profile left from the suicide project, so cutting, drilling, beating, welding (and a lot og cursing) later, a fresh new piece of frame!!!
Actually I have cut out all the gray in the second picture, and welded it back on, just didn't have the camera...
Then on to the next phase; The frame! As I drew, I wanted the windowframe to look a bit different, third picture is the start of the minor modification:D

Right as I was progressing nicely, my MIG fawked up, the thread would'nt come out. So i took it apart, and between the feedwheels and the feedertube there waqs a big ball of weldwire, NICE!
I have been suspecting it to be faulty for a while, this confirmed it!
Fortunately one of my friends had a new, although from a different brand, but I was abele to make it fit:D

So on with it! The corner took a bit of work, as you can see in the second picture.

The last one is of the pround owner/fabricator now with the window in and all clearances around the window adjusted. There will be some final grinding/smoothing before it is finished, but I could'nt resist rattlecanning it in primer, just to see how it looked in one colour, me like!!!:D

P.S Any ideas for a name for it?

That my friend, looks very very cool! Good work.

Damn nice work....

I suggest you name it: "Sick Bastard" Or, if you're not happy with that, you call always call her, "TILDE". No! I got it! How about "THORBORG!"

Man!!!! that is awsome!!!!! you need to have like your own 4x4 choppers cable show! Oh wait! We are not even close to finished folks! the fun is just started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You still gotta do paint, engine, interior, expedition related goodies,220V for the wifes hair dryer, etc.,etc.,& the list goes on!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you leaving the glass in the rear hatch or do you have "ambulance" doors?

I love the panel wagon approach. It'd be pretty easy to do by welding the rear doors to the body. Your mini suicide doors are quite trendy with all the pickups here getting them in the "extra cab" models.

By far one of the coolest/unique 60's i've seen, I wouldn't mind one myself. Want to come to Canada and start another project when you're done?

How 'bout 'the Hearse', or 'PaddyWagon' or somesuch? The closed in rear makes ya wonder what's hiding out behind there...

Thanks alot all of you!!!

I am still not decided on the name, but i am impressed with SpikeStrip on the nordic theme
Btw, Sirenmoses, what is a Paddywagon?

I considered "wilderbeast" og "Gnu"....

And Gas-a-lot, besides that, maybe en exo-cage? definetly roofmounted aircon! compressor? navi for sure ect. ect. :)

Tinker, I have the amulance doors, and I will make the windows smaller. After i got the idea for the suicide doord, I saw them on pickups in TV where you are, and I considered not doing it, don't wan't to be a copycat... But did 'em anyways...;)

MikeHJ60 I would love to go to Canada, but you wouldn't like the speed (or lack of it) I work at! Remember, I am no pro!!!

I have added a picture of my daily driver, it is a 280SE form '82... It's old, but it gets me there!:D
The second one costed me 300$ I think thats it too much for B/W in that resolution!

Thank you...

"Paddywagon" is old American slang for a Police truck used on raids. Slang for the Irish = "Paddy" and in America, early in the 20th Century, The Irish where the dominant ethnicity of most Police Departments in the Major American Cities, on the East Coast, at least. Thus 'Paddy Wagon' for the COPS ARE HERE!

Dude!
that is awesome work!
A TON of it, but fantastic none the less!
I couldnt have stumbled on this thread at a better time, as I am gonna try my hand at some sheet metal fab for the body as well!

Looks GREAT!
My hat is off to you!

BTW, are you running tack welds on the sheet metal to make a bead, or are you just running a bead?
It doesnt seem that you are having too much of an issue with warpage!?
Maybe you dont get warpage in your country!?:D

Cristian, i like what i'm seing.
I like the panel look, what i was thinking of doing was to weld the back doors closed, cover in the rearmost windows like you but i would frame in the door windows to look like the rearmost windows did.

You've got some serious talent and innovation. Thanks for the post. Looks Sweet!

hey christian are you gonna shorten the back to get a better departure angle? just an idea. maybe some thing like this

Great work on the cruiser. Definately unique. I'm diggin it. And nice touch scanning in the photo radar pic! ;p

That is great work Christian. I have done some pretty extensive bodywork on my FJ40 but now I want to tackle the FJ60. I wont be getting as crazy as you, I just have a couple of rotten fender lips and a nasty rocker.

Suicide doors on a 60...bad ass!!!:grinpimp:
