Classic Rock Monday.

I think the only joke is 60 guys wanting 10k+ for rust bucket projects or 20k for a clean 60.
I agree with you to a point some of the asking price are risible. However asking and getting are different as we all know. The truth is whether we like it or not is what the poster seeks, daily driver capable 60, is going to cost more than 5k. Honestly though the most unrealistic part is finding it within such a restricted geographic area. 60's are not quite as easy to find as corollas. Well unless you're in the PNW then they are seemingly plentiful

I agree! The prices on them have skyrocketed in the last year..it's been getting a little ridiculous. The only FJ62 I've ever seen that was worth $15k was the rust free one here in AZ that only had 80k original miles on it and was tastefully modded.

I'm getting pretty angry seeing 60's and 62's with 230k miles plus being listed for $15k-$20k.

I just saw a guy in CA today list his 62 with almost 300k on the original motor for $29k....people are getting crazy with their prices on these...:bang:

Lols.
There aren't daily drivable 60/62's for $5K nor are there pristine ones for $15K.
That's just reality. Regardless of what anyone may think or wish to be the case.

Supply/Demand

When that alarm clock rings at 0430 I hate reality too. It is what it is.

If 60 adds are making you angry you really should avoid the 40 section or anything bronco related. I missed out on possibly one of the last few reasonably priced rust free 1970's broncos a few years ago and chose instead to spend the money on a 60. No use getting angry things will go the way they will go whether one individual participates or not.

If you are looking for a 60 there are still decent deals out there but they are harder and harder to find. I doubt they will get significantly cheaper any time soon.

Can't argue with either of ya. It is what it is, if I really want a 60 I'll wait till I find one for the best value.

Just blown away by how much they've increased in price, guess the demand must be really high!

Hard to know. As an owner it's been fun to see the recent rise in prices. But no way in heck I'd pay close what my 62 would fetch now. It just isn't worth it. I see some sort of reality returning to the FJ60/62 market when the economy hiccups. You can tell the market is overheated when at least once a week someone stops by and asks if they can buy my FJ62. The cool thing about a 62 is, it does make an excellent daily driver, so it's like enjoying your hobby every day!

8 years ago, you could have easily found a pristine FJ62 for $5000. We saw them being turned in in "cash for clunkers" for some $2500 tax break. A shame.

The newbe OP may just be fishing for a flip. We've seen a lot of that recently on ih8mud. I hope not, but he will need to adjust his budget and expectations a bit.

Almost any POS that runs well enough to be considered a DD is going to cost you at least $5K around here, and I live in the country.

To those who just can't stand what 60 and 62s are selling for, ten years ago called and want their mind set back. We cruiser heads were all lucky for a long time, cruisers in general were cheap and available. Those days are gone. 40s have been crazy money for a while and 60/62s have been stepping up for a few years.

Resto Mods are the rage across the automotive spectrum with no end in site, now selling for more money than bolt off restorations. 60/62s are showing up in movies, TV and commercials along with print adds. The word is out, these are cool old trucks and now every hipster with a beard and a flannel shirt must own one ( some of my friends have beards and flannel shirts ) :).

We have been blabbering over them for years, now everyone else has started listening. People that can afford to buy old iron and fix it up are snapping them up. I get more and more calls from people wanting to know the cost of a turn key project and have not even bought the truck yet.

I think a recession will be the only thing to slow the snow ball down some, but muscle cars crashed in 08 and look where they are again now.

I only started buying flannel shirts after I bought my first 60.... I'm not sure what what that means but I think my therapist and I can figure it out over some fair trade organic coffee :crybaby:

LOL, I pretty much wear nothing but button downs outside of the shop. I got comfortable in them in my teens and keeping my arms covered in the sun was always a thought due to cancer throughout my family. A buddy of mine teased me about it all the time when I lived in the Keys, I had half a dozen white shirts, same shirt. No way I went out on the water without sleeves.

I don't want to know what a shrink thinks about it :)

I've got one - slightly more than $5k. No rust, but needs a new 4l60E and a couple other minor things

And now it doesn't need a 4l60E - rebuilt with a 3 year warranty.
