We are moving from FL to CA next month and I have been trying to figure out how to get the 60 there with us. We only have 2 drivers, one of us will be driving the moving truck and one of us our car (which has a/c) with our two cats. That leaves the 60 without a driver and frankly I would rather pull it or load it into the truck. The Budget and U-haul sites say the 60 is too heavy for the car hauler, although a 90s 4runner is okay so it must be pretty close. The 60 has steel rims and 33s but no additional aftermarket weight. Has anybody used the car hauler anyway? Do you have to load the car at the truck rental place so they know what you are hauling? Has anyone ever put one inside of the truck? I measured and it will fit but I would have to buy some ramps to be able to load it and the biggest truck only holds something like 7400 lbs but we don't have a whole lot of household items. Biggest thing being a Hammond organ which weighs a few hundred lbs. and tool boxes, air compressor, etc.
Any ideas? I don't really want to put it on a car hauler for 1200 dollars or more.
thanks, mike
