has any used one of these?, MAF 40 series bumpers. I'm sure you would have to fab a custom mount for frame to bumper. They come in two lengths 48" and 59". 59" is basically what's on the front of the 60 series.

I have not tried it but judging by the stock 60 mounts and the picture I don't think it would be too difficult. I would double check the mounting holes on the FJ40 frame and compare to the FJ60 frame. Also check the clearance for the winch mount as I think that this could interfere with the grill on the FJ60.

This would be a great alternative to the high priced other bumpers out there.

I will post on the 40 boards for some dementions.

By the time you get done fabbing up new holes You would be better off just getting a piece of 2x5" tubing and attatching it to your frame horns..

Honestly..

beaufort, I would really like to see those on a 60/62, as those are some very nice looking bumpers. It seems like we are very limited on bumper options as wagon owners.

they are real cheap also:D

talking about alternate bumpers

been thinking about the possibility of using a smittybilt HEEP or an Or-Fab™ Rock Slider Rear Bumper with receiver hitch as front bumper on my 60... smittybilt is available in titanium powder coat finish that would match my tube / imitation rock slider side steps. Would turn the smittybilt orOr-Fab over (make bottom, top) and reinforce to 'take it'. i want to put my winch on receiver adapter... any thoughts... saw only one fj60 with tube bumpers in RL and i thought it was good looking.

prices are comparable to the MAF fj40 bumpers in this thread.

thoughts?

got tired of repainting mine every year, built new one out of quarter inch aluminum checker plate.

I like that Cody. Nice and simple- light too I bet. Wanna make another?

i might if i wasnt leaving in a month for a years stay in new zealand, and wasnt trying to do an soa and turbo for the 3b before i go. another simple option is to get some channel, 4" or 6" wide, cut it or shape it how you want it then run aluminum on the top surface connected to the underside of the top lip of the channel. easily done and all ya need is a grinder and some cut off discs.

Find somebody to do it for you, that cant be too hard of a bumper to build. I have kicked that idea around for my FJ60 too.

if a fabricator charged $100 for a mounting kit, the total cost would still only be around $350 for bumper and all.

This rear bumperr design ain't too bad...

might it be because the best looking bumpers for the 60 are angled backwards because the frame set so far foward where the 40 series can be made straight??
