60 front bumper brain storm

Like Mace said, $50-60 worth of steel and a little time cutting / welding. The money you spend on a $600-700 bumper is worth investing in a decent welder.

Those bumpers are exactly what I have been looking for. Plain simple and to the point, not too much metal or fab time. Even I can weld that. Iv got a miller matic challenger 172 at my shop maybe I will have to buy it. Damn no 220 plug at thte house.

You runnin' 220?

...220, 221, whatever it takes

Anyone seen Mr Mom?

got any more pics at a different angle?

I had mine made by Chris at CRBoffroad in Ohio. Here's the front, $100 range

and the rear, in the $250 ballpark.

I fabbed the mounting brackets and welded them over a weekend. Bumpers were built from a sketch and measurements I provided Chris.

is the hitch on the front bumper for a portable winch?

Yes, though at the present I have only a Warn 6k. I'll probably have to upgrade before attempting a pull on the 60 or, gulp! the :princess: 's 80!!!

SAS: the front one is almost exactly what i am looking for... i want to know how exactly you anchored it to the frame for pulling the vehicle out of the mess you drove into? any attachment pics? also, wouldn't be happy without some kind of D-ring recovery points to smash my knees & shins on.

i intend to put my receiver mounted winch up front when needed or in the rear when needed. also, the front receiver is a great place for the receiver mounted bike rack. less chance of having to constantly get in and out of there than the back of the car when traveling. besides, you can watch the bikes as you drive instead of pegging your eyes in the rearview.

i have also been trying to work thru some kind of swing - away that fits the existing receiver and has a receiver in it for mounting my spare on the back of the car with a storage box that can function as a table of sorts for after the extended gas tank install. Instead of mounting the hinge to the bumper as your bumper is built. that way i can mount the tire / gas can and /or the storage box depending upon what i was gonna do that weekend.

saw one on the net for a storage box add on but it had no receiver in it so that trailer ball could still be added or the bike rack installed or the winch or what ever. had thought of it independently but found the product on the net in a google search. did not bookmark the page unfortunately.

any ideas?

SRPLUS: I used 3/16 2x4 angle iron, about 5" in length parallel along the frame rail (removed factory bumper horns).

The 2" part goes over the top of the frame, and the 4" part on the inside of frame...looks like inverted "L".

Drilled one hole per frame rail, but will do a second on each side, and secured it with a short fat hardened steel bolt.

These mounts are butt-welded to the bumper, and I plan to gusset them (horizontally) before any trail use.
