True. And by the time you start with bigger tires, steel bumpers, winch, sliders, roof rack, rtt and/or drawers all that weight will make the V6 work harder and yield to same (give or take) mpg of an LC/LX but without the readily power of a V8. I once heard from a drunk friend “There’s no replacement for displacement”I mean. Yes? Idk. The 5th gen 4Runner I drove didn’t get amazing gas mileage. And none of the V8 rumble.
I currently have a 2017 LX 570, and a 2000 LC, and have in the past owned a 2012 4Runner Limited. My favorite to drive of the three is the LC. Fly under the radar all day long. I also have a 2019 BMW M5, and a 1988 911 Turbo, yet still reach for the keys of the LC most chances I have to drive.
I made the mistake of getting the larger wheels. Thing rides like its wearing bricks.
Once you become a cruiser head, there is almost no going back to another 4wd platform.
In fact you start hoarding![]()
