You just tell me you're ok doing it and I'll have them ready when you arrive there!
I did the same thing last year and @fireball and @coloaviator did the honors!
Thanks

Just got my 90k service done and all is well except for the front driver ball joint. Whenever I turn the wheel or hit bumps the thing is creaking like crazy. I had them pump a ton of grease in there but as of now its still creaking.
The boot really doesn't look torn at all and there is fresh grease in there now. Hopefully after a bit of driving it will work in there and go away.

Mine was making crazy pops and creaks too, and that was after I rebuild the whole suspension. I hadn't replaced the sway bar links though. Once I replaced them all the noises stopped. Maybe check that. Its funny how much disturbing noise was happening from those worn sway bar links. If it is the ball joint that can be a dangerous gamble, especially off road.

Thanks for the response. Rob (my mechanic) and I were under there shaking everything around trying to pinpoint where the noise is coming from however we're not exactly sure. They could not get the front sway bar bushings in on time for my service so that could also be the culprit. I'm going to take some pictures and post up. Anyone else with experience on this I'd appreciate some input.
This is getting a little stressful as we're supposed to leave in 24 hours!
I probably have some swaybar rubber I can bring. I just replaced mine and got them from here. But he is in Houston and sounds like you are leaving on Monday. Check all the parts stores-I think the Raybestos is the 555 that most people use-look it up on Amazon too. I can bring my old ones but the boots are torn and had 284k miles but will through them in the spares box just in case. Other option is seeing if there is a dealership that has the complete arm. Could certainly find one between PA and CO-or have one overnighted to someone to bring. This guy stocks them down in Houston and there are people coming from Houston. He also sold me just the lowers and I have his phone number if you need it. This is just like getting ready for the races at the last minute and showing up with work to do.

The really creaking definitely sounds like ball joints. I had a lower get a small tear in boot and it was downhill from there as far as the noises. I also had a uniball on an aftermarket upper arm on its way out that was super "creaky". Lower ball joints can be had a part that can be pressed in to existing arms. 555 is the brand. Or you can even just reboot the lowers for about $50 with a kit from Toyota. That may work for you. Last I checked, uppers had to be replaced completely, no ball joint that will fit (maybe some did find a joint on eBay that works? I may have read that). Good luck!
Uppers are available from 555 and serviceable though I haven't done them but no reason why they wouldn't work and people here have used them. Link above to a fellow mudder who imports them and sell them.
Will have our 17 yr old daughter who lives on Instagram give a tutorial-she is panicking about not having cell service and when I tell her we are putting our phones away for a little digital detox.
Thanks for the responses. After driving around a little and letting the grease work its way in there the noise has gone down significantly. We're going for it tomorrow morning.
Some are already on their way, some are packing, some going through road repairs! I'm here in the garage messing with some little projects and just wanted to state that welding gloves with holes really suck!!!
Feel like I did a lot to prep, but still missing something or there is more to be done. Now just hoping all goes well. Was a little nervous because my battery did start really slow today with the fridge running in the back, but it was sitting for 10 hours set at 32 degrees and it was 100 outside. If worse comes to worse I will grab a new one on the way. I was hoping the fridge would be ok for this trip. I have run it for 12 hours at night (cooler ambient temp) with no issues. I wanted to add a Grape solar kit to the rack, but ran out of time. Oh well!!!

Well, here's my deal. I have some Toyota Trails and OutdoorX4 work to finish up. My wife and kids want to camp somewhere tomorrow night, so I'll be doing that first. I am hoping to leave on Tuesday afternoon, but that may change to Wednesday morning. I have a few more HIH things to wrap up as well.
So, if someone wants to coordinate a route and a group, please feel free. Our standard route of Red Cone to Webster to Owl Creek is not doable due to snow at the Red Cone/Webster merge. I was planning a new route this year with a side trip on a trail near Monarch Pass with camp somewhere near Silver Jack again. I will update again on Tuesday. I will most likely stay one night near SJ and one night at a secret spot near Ouray. (I can take 4 other vehicles with me up there) Epic spot and 4wd required to reach. It's possible that I'll head straight there and kick back for 2 days prior to the event instead of Silver Jack. Sorry for the vague plans this year. I will post more as I finalize everything.
I just got some news that could put a wrench in our Black Bear Pass runs.
The Wild Bunch 4WD Club of Montrose is doing their annual Black Bear Backwards run on Aug 1st and 2nd. I am working on doing some coordination right now, but this will most likely delay our Black Bear runs on the weekend. We will need to start those later than normal. This is something that is done every year through the county and local FS. Basically, it shuts down Black Bear while they're on it.
I will know more by the time we get to camp and it's something Chris and I will cover during our drivers meeting Friday morning. Nothing changes except for our times. We may sleep in a little later, we may run another trail on the way to Black Bear, but everything should still go as planned.
Normally, they do this as soon as Black Bear opens for the season, but there was some pretty heavy duty traffic jams at last year's FJ Summit because of it. They leave at like 7am, so even if we left at 10am instead of 9am, we'd be fine.
