5 pin VS 4 pin winch remote.

I'm in the process of re-furbishing an older warn M6000 and have some questions on parts compatibility.

I stuck my continuity tester on the leads, and was able to get a signal on the power in mode, but haven't been able to get a signal on the power out mode. I have tried all possible combinations for testing.

So I am thinking on just picking up a new (used) remote. I might have found one, but its a 5pin model. Will this be compatible with a 4 pin remote? The 5 pin and the 4 pin look like their respective sides on a dice.

Apparently it is a "Pierce" model.
 
Why not just wire up an in-cab control? I have never once had a need for a standard remote vs an in cab control.

Northern Tool/Harbor Freight should have remotes that will work, just splice onto your old remote's plug.
 
5 pin and 4 pin are compatible.
 
I don't wheel by myself.

But besides that, the amount of tension you can apply yourself by holding onto the cable with one hand (presuming the other is holding onto the remote) is inconsequential.

My cable tends to bind up if I don't hold tension while spooling in, making it a major pita when I want to spool out quickly the next time around :doh:

I'm installing seat heater rocker switches for both winches on the dash, but with main cutoff key switches mounted on the bumpers, so I can still hold tension while spooling in and kill it as soon as the hook gets close to the rollers :cool:
