Well, what ever it is, I hope he shares. I'm assuming he's referring to the fact that with more torque, it's capable of running at 70 more easily at a low rpm than the 5.3.

Are you planning on using the split case T case? I don't think there is an adapter for the 6L80.

Has anyone suggested 5.9 Cummins yet?

You get the mpg, hp and torque.

My personal OPINION, worst day was when GM Performance stopped selling the 5.3L Crate motor and Connect & Cruise set up.

Let's clear up some verbiage, the term "crate" motor is being thrown around a lot. To me, a crate motor is a brand new motor from the manufacturer. YMMD

You really can not go wrong with either variant. I am not going to delve into rock crawling gear ratios as that pertains to any power plant you plan to use. I would certainly specify 4.10/4.11 gears in your axles. Most of these conversations drift into high speed numbers etc, but the real beauty of both the 5.3L and 6.2L is overall drive ability.

Instead of jumping on the throttle to move the 5K plus pound brick from a dead stop you just lightly roll into the throttle and off you go, easy peasy. Kind of like, oh I don't know, a Tahoe. Yeah yeah I know, if you wanted a Tahoe you would have bought a Tahoe. So why ya reading this anyway? If you truly want to compare, go drive a used Tahoe with a 5.3 and a new one with a 6.2 and you will feel the difference. The true advantage of more power also shows up in every day driving, like entering the interstate. It is a game changer in your overall perception of the truck.

I can not make up my mind either. I have a 5.3L slated to go in my wife's 80 and plan on a 6.2L crate motor in my 62. Whenever I get to my own trucks....................... :)

Couldn't agree more, 6.2 is still available though in connect and cruise correct?

Yup. Hopefully they addressed the (occasionally reported) pre-mature cam bearing wear. It's rumored GM hones/clearances the cam bearings while installed which can cause issues. Could be just rumors. You're still getting a 2yr/50k mile warranty though.

But this is one of the reasons I chose to rebuild my own and use proper bearings. Plus the rebuild cost a lot less than $13k for the C&C. :D

I’ve pretty much landed on the 6.2. What do you mean by connect and cruise? DBC? I’m looking at a setup all new and a DBW peddle with it. Yes it’s a lot of money but not really that much when you think about a brand new drivetrain, all wiring, programming and tested, sensors, pumps, etc...

AA does make one now. Give me a shout if you need one!

If it’s in the budget, I don’t really see a reason to go with the 5.3. You can always drive the 6.2 slower if it’s too much power.

Connect and cruise means a few wires to make the PCM work and a few wires to make cruise control work.

NO IT DOES NOT Connect & Cruise is a motor/trans package with appropriate wiring harness(s) to make it all run. There are quite a few different C&C packages
