Just a few days left before the Meet and Greet. Weather is looking to be nice this weekend. Forecast calls for rain most of the week which should mean the trails will be less dusty on Friday and may make some of the trails a bit more "interesting".

whelp, sounds like im not going to be able to attend this year. Need to go to cali over the weekend and the following week for work. I just couldnt make it work. Id only really be there one day, friday, driving back saturday to make my flight. Let the shaming begin, apologies to Charles that the panel van wont be there to make fun of :-(

Spend Friday with us and return home on Saturday.

What? I had a route planned that would allow you to take another shot at "that tree", this time in the wet!

Safe business travels, we'll miss you

The "Florida group" and I will be leaving Southern Georgia Thursday morning. We'll pick up another Cruiser in the Columbus area and two additional Cruisers northwest of Atlanta. We'll hopefully roll into Oakridge by late afternoon.
My cell number is two two nine - 221-8606 for those of you that might need additional information on Thursday or Friday. (Keep in mind that cell service can be spotty in the mountains)

Spotty is an understatement. Once we cross the main ridge line that runs NE-SW from the parking lot, most cell phones have “no service” as a permanent fixture ....

Last minute prep work

I’m headed out Thursday, late afternoon from Ohio. 5-6 hour drive. See y’all there.

I will be showing up Thursday night. Probably snagging a hotel. Where are we meeting on Friday morning again?

Hello All
I will be leading a moderate run on Saturday. I have not done pre-runs as Sam has but am familiar with the area and will be exploring on Friday afternoon. Please plan to be fueled up, aired down, have your Windrock permit in hand, your Hello Kitty backpack loaded with snacks and be ready to leave by 8:30 am. See Sam's post # 194 for permit information. We will meet in the Windrock parking lot. If you drive like me, you should have front and rear bumpers, sliders and a rear locker. Trail selection will depend on how wet they are. Onur will be giving a brief lecture at lunch on part # iterations for those interested <smile>. If you are inclined, please post up so I know who to expect.

Most of the details are in post #191. If you have any additional questions give me a shout. A number of us are staying at the Comfort Inn in Oakridge.

Peter, I have some suggested routes. Will PM you with them. On my pre-run I found a couple of trails had been re-worked to eliminate really bad spots that have opened up a few more options for us ....

I will be headed out of the midlands of SC tomorrow AM. Have not yet decided on driving or towing - will depend upon what the tropics look like this afternoon.

My cell, if anyone needs info is seven oh four - 995 - six oh oh 7.

The weather in the Oliver Springs area has been quite wet recently. This will mean all trail difficulties will go up somewhat.

There is a Flash Flood Advisory out for the area through Tomorrow at 8PM. My ride on Friday may be somewhat impacted as the last 1/4 mile or so to the Eternal Flame is either creek bed or right next to it. If the creek is running deep / fast, we may have a slight change of plans at that point. Not to worry as we will have plenty of alternative places to go.

I will be bringing a chainsaw in case we have to clear any fallen trees. Others may want to do the same ...

Please make note of our contact information in post 206 & 214 if you need updates on Thursday.

* I plan to bring my handheld HAM radio which might aid in communications if others also bring theirs.

I didn’t have time to finish installing my ham. I do have a CB.

What spares and tools are people bringing?

I know for sure I will have a front axel rebuild kit, water pump service, HZ/PZ clutch, belts, Diff service and oil service.

1) You'll be driving a Toyota so you are likely to arrive without issue. The wheeling at the event is unlikely to result in breakage unless you drive like me.

2) Bring the standard tools to work on a Toyota; screwdrivers, 10, 12, 14, 17 & 19 mm wrenches/sockets and a socket to fit your lug nuts. Maybe some pliers.

3) The spares you list are more than enough. I won't have any of that.

4) In the unlikely event you do have a problem, keep @Gun Runner 5 's # handy. He will able to walk you through any needed repairs. Right @beno ?

5) See #1.

Good luck!
Peter
