I had a MY14 dark grey and before that I had a 08 silver one.

Had a silver 100 Series TIL it was 16 years old. I think silver is one of the most practical colors there is. Looks great… I just asked… And remains cool to the touch compared with gray for sure.

I couldn't be happier that we're heading back to SW Colorado. Very exciting! Basing out of Telluride is a great change of pace. I'll probably still sneak in a few days in Ouray ahead or behind the trip (depending on what @Willy beamin and @Atwalz have planned for pre/post trips).

I was thinking about Ouray too, and figured we'd maybe hit it right AFTER Telluride if the wife feels up to it. Would be fun to get in on a BACKWARDS Black Bear run...but that would have to be arranged (remember how some Jeep group had Black Bear reserved for a day last year so they could run it backwards?).

We really enjoyed Breck this year, but I do admit that I was remembering the incredible colors and scenic variety that is Ouray. Will definitely be up for some runs up there with others if anyone is so inclined! :) Moab before...Telluride...Ouray... What a combo!!!

Also, the Ouray hot springs went through a major renovation... so relaxing.

Keep in mind Ouray and Telluride are basically connected via Imogene and black bear. So we’ll be spending quite a bit of time in Ouray. Just home base will be telluride. All trails in the area will be hit.

Ya, I wondered that...but I've not spent time on the Telluride side...so wondered if it led to its own set of trails. I will VERY happily return to Ouray...and add to it before and after.

Would anyone be interested in doing Kokopelli Trail on the way out of...or into Moab?

Baja, Moab, Telluride, Ouray, possibly Yukon... If 2018 doesn't break my 200 I don't know what will.
Let's do this!!!

Will most people be camping or staying in hotels?

* I was thinking of pulling our off road trailer and staying in a local campground with the family. However, I would like to get to meet and and socialize with the people in the evenings. So I guess we would like to know what most people will be doing.

Thanks!

It usually runs the gamut on these gatherings, so it's really up to you.

-Some in tents... Trailers... Cheap Motels... B&B... Hotels/Resorts...
I think Slee brought an RV to Ouray last year...

Plenty of chances to socialiaze at lunch, dinner, on the trail, etc.
I don't know of anyone who spent a lot of time hanging out with folks AT hotels. Didn't seem to really matter where people slept at night, since the days were full of gathers before, on, between and after trails.

Just figure out a place to sleep and you're good!

Excited and looking forward to it!

Count me in for the Moab pre-run. I'll try to make it this time!

We'll almost certainly be camping in our travel trailer. Last year a few others camped around us in both trailers and tents.

Did some looking tonight and the Matterhorn Campground looks nice and gets great reviews.

If you camp by me in Telluride I'll try not to be a stranger this time.

I'll be at the LCDC for sure, at least Friday and Saturday. I need to look at my available vacation time and see what parks my wife and kids want to visit to see if I have enough time off to do Moab and a longer LCDC trip.

Count me in for Telluride and the Moab pre-funk! 2018 is going to be epic!

With my current level of vehicle distraction (think @mcgaskins but on an infinitely smaller budget), I doubt I'll have a LC before 2020, so my opinion is worth a grain of salt. However, reading this thread and the potential interest in "moving" or trip style event I just saw a photo trip report of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon: The Grand Adventure: The North Rim of the Grand Canyon

Just as a drizzle in the brainstorm, something like that would easily lend itself to being accessible to vehicles of all levels of modification and would likely quench most desires for exploration. Just wanted to throw it out there as a "what's possible" option for all of you. See you in 2020, haha.

Not sure how I missed this, but you should fly out and join us next year in Telluride if you don't have a 200 by then! I lost my front view camera when I got rid of the 14, so I could use a spotter :D

This is a most excellent idea! While I've spent some time in SW CO before, I never made a trip over there while I lived in CO and certainly have never wheeled it. I'm likely to take you up on this idea!
