@indycole definitely will want an aux tank. From what I understand there are plenty of gas stations on the main roads but main roads are what I want to avoid as much as possible.

Sounds like we have at least six for Baja. Might need to make a Baja planning thread. Even though it's a few months out it's a fairly involved trip.

I too maybe in if it stays in Baja vs the mainland

When was the time table for Baja?
I’ve been a few times. I love Baja, never gotten to do off-roading there however.

My work is a bit seasonal. If it was January-March we could probably make it.

Baja sounds like an adventure I can get behind!

As for LCDC, I'm in if it's friends on this site saying "let's meet here and wheel" -- which is literally how all of this started.

But I'm out if/when the event gets too big, involves registration, insurance, paying in advance, etc. Everyone I know that I've met and become friends with from LCDC is awesome - but too many trucks on a trail, too many cooks in the kitchen organizing and too many different layers of bureaucracy is not of any interest to me.

I guess you can’t sell your 200 now! We can’t allow a raptor to show us up...I mean show up. Ha

@bluecruiser I do appreciate that you spent the day with the group and led us down black bear pass. Thank you

Catching up on the activity here. Good conversation and thoughts.

This years even was great and well run. Perhaps some of the groups got a little big, but that's part of the nature of wheeling with a group. I think keeping the event on the smallish size make a lot of sense from a logistics point. The organizers put a lot of time and thought into it, and its supposed to be fun for everyone, including them.

There was conversation about a minimum build, I don't think that its a bad idea if its used to limit participation on certain trail ratings.

I'm somewhat involved with our TLCA Chapter here and can inquire with TLCA about what's required to start a platform-specific chapter.

I'm also down for the LCXC pending schedules/locations/etc. Kokopelli sounds interesting, as well as almost anything in the Southern UT/4Corners area.

Monument Valley...

So are you in MV right now, Tony, or are you suggesting that as a place to go?

Hello all--

Well this thread has really taken off which is cool to see but also these last couple of months has really allowed me to take a step back and relax from all this planning and why the event started in the first place.

I started this "gathering" 4 years ago with the notion of loving Land Cruiser's and wheeling. I really wanted to just wheel with like minded people. I didn't want anyone to pay or feel excluded like other events that are capped. I didn't want to make any money for doing these but after growing each year it has been more and more difficult to organize and try to accommodate everyone's requests. I really enjoyed seeing the large number of people and all those 200's and heck even having Toyota and ARB join us last year was awesome. In the end though life is always busy... work schedules/demands, kids playing sports and just needing a relaxing getaway. LCDC has turned into a non-relaxing event for me.

For year 4, I'd like to tone it down and get back to the original idea of taking our 200's out and just wheeling.... No big sponsors, no start times and trail sign ups. If you love Land Cruiser's and want a relaxing, fun filled couple of days with good friends and beautiful mountains then the 4th annual LCDC is for you.

This year's destination will be Telluride, CO - July 25-29. The goal this year will be running any trails you like and making your own evening activities. We'll still get together every day to hit trails but I won't be making any sort of schedule. Telluride is a beautiful city with lots of options for kids, food, hiking, biking and camping.

As always Slee Off Road will be sponsoring again and we'll have 1 organized dinner for the group. I hope to see you there and we can enjoy our cruisers and great trails together.

I don't like it, I love it. Nicely said Cody. Looking forward to making it. Let me know if you need help with anything. I'll do what I can from my end.

Great idea, Cole. I know I have been pushing SO Utah but SW CO is also awesome. Spent a week there the end of September. Well, we were in the Ouray area but spent 3 days in Telluride and/or in between just exploring back roads and taking pics of Aspen trees turning gold. Of course some who, unlike me, don't have a problem with shelf roads will be able to drive the high mountain passes. Telluride is a great mountain town - year round.

And there it is.
Low pressure planning...low stress getaway.
Plenty of wheeling opportunities and a place to relax for those so inclined.
Count me in. :steer:

And for those interested in a pre or post to Moab...Kokopelli...or...or...or...?
Count me twice. :steer::steer:

You rock Cody! This plan sounds great, and we’ll definitely be there. Let me know if you need any help - I’d be glad to lend a hand.

Awesome! Well said Cody, really looking forward to this, back to the basics! Thanks again for all you do to make these trips happen!

A lot to catch up on! I really like the direction Cody... keep it simple. For those that like the big organized events, and there are positives with that kind of experience, there is no shortage of them to be part of all over the country. Some are a lot of fun. For me personally, I like the less organized free to do as I please with whomever I please approach to this hobby. This keeps it more inclusive... newbies can show up, learn about the trucks and show up the next year with built out beasts to show the next round of newbies.

back to the roots... good stuff!
