Hi guys. Spend most of my time in 80's tech but I have a ? on my 4Runner tonight. Searched but can't find. Does anyone know if Toyota put a limited slip in the 2000 4Runner? I was going up my cabin driveway in 14 inches of snow this weekend and when I tried to corner tha damn thing went straight. I had to gun it and slide the thing through the corners. Bought it used two years ago and haven't had to worry to much about using 4 wheel in that much snow till now. Thanks for the input.

as far as I know 4runners never had limited slips in the rears, only locking. If you did have a limited slip, it would actually oversteer in the corners or "fish tail". Now if you had it in 4wheel drive, it probably wouldn't steer into the turn because the power is the same ratio front and rear. an example, take the 80 through there it will do the turns with no problem because the center diff.

you can always read the axle code to see if it does have a lsd, sorry I don't have my code book here so I can't see what combination is a lsd, but I think it's an odd# as the last number in the code.

Nope, Toyota never put limited slip on any 4Runner. They put a rear differential lock on 96-99 4Runner and that is on Limited model.

No LSD whatsoever unless some PO put in a aftermarket LSD.

You may want to search at www.yotatech.com, they talk nothing there but 4Runners. Good luck

The 4th gen hilux surf JDM version (4runner) has an optional $300 LS diff in the rear only on the G-selection version (top-end).

It wasn't just the Limited versions that had the factory electronic locker. I've got one on my SR5.
