And that is that. Here are some driveway, poser shots. I havnt had much time to go wheeling lately. Over the summer I went on a few good camping trips but I am waiting to go to the Rubicon and Fordyce until I have a rear locker. For now she gets me around and even without lockers the little red runner does awesome in the snow. Can't wait for this winter to roll around.... :D

I missed this thread, badass wheels you have there. Room to sleep in there too if the winter season throws you a wrench.

I like everything but the drop front hanger - from what i can see, it wasn't really necessary.

Naw, it was completely necessary. With the stock spring hanger, yjs, and 35s, my tires rubbed the back of the front fenders really bad when stuffing. that could have been solved with some sawzall work, but at the same time my approach angle was pretty crappy from my front bumper. I really like my front bumper and have no desire to switch to a tube bumper (hate that look) or spend the big $$$ on an ARB or similar. The drop box was the best way to improve on both of these problems. I also wanted to run jeep wagoneer springs which were a bit longer than stock toyota so moving it 2" forward was exactly what I needed. Lastly, the drop hanger actually improved my pinion angle, making it better than it was before the drop box.

The truck works so much better now on the trail. My front tires are 2" forward of stock and that makes a big difference when approaching steep ledges. :beer:
 
Half doors on the cheap

I wanted some half doors for a Fordyce trip but by the time I found some cheap, relatively straight doors I had less than a day to make them.

Overall I guesstimate I have about $70 bucks into them (though I already had all the grinding/cutting wheels and paint, but I will figure that in anyway).

$40 for both doors
$3.00 for a 10' 2x4
$5.00 for (40) self tapping screws
$14 or so in grinding and cutting wheels
$10 in spray paint

My final goal is to get the same color (tan) interior panels and cut them to fit the doors, and fold them over so the armrest is nice and fuzzy. I also plan to incorporate a cup holder and make a little button for the door latch to make it more aesthetically pleasing. Eventually I will make a really nice set and use metal instead of wood and paint them to match my truck exactly. I rarely run half doors though so for the cheap investment in both time and money I am very happy with them. They work great on the street and especially on the trail. With the top off and the half doors on the air flow is really nice.

Marked out where I wanted to cut. Decided to cut it level with the inner door latch mechanism. all you do is push it down to open. I am going to make a button for it eventually.

Half doors on the cheap

Here they are cut with the first piece of 2x4 installed. Cutting the top piece was the biggest PITA, just took a lot of trial and error to get it to fit right.

Just painted em black since I would never find a rattle can red that would even remotely come close to my factory red paint job.

Thanks! Finding doors was the hardest part for me. I'd like to make some showroom style half doors eventually. But for the cheap investment these things kick ass. You wouldn't expect it to make much of a difference but on the trail they help out a TON!
 
Those doors kick ass, awesome :cheers:. Airflow in the cab rules, plus visibility.
 
Great looking Runner, I like the straight cut on the doors....most times they just dip in the middle. Thinking I might need to find me a set to chop up....

Thanks. I wanted some doors that would be at perfect height for an armrest. I didnt really like riding with my friends whose doors dip way down in the middle...more airflow but I like having an armrest.
