yes, why dont you just buy new rims for the d70 (8lug) so you dont have to run the adapter/spacers? My width with the d70/ H1s that are backspaced about 2.5"s and 15" wide tire is about 85-86 inches just to give you some idea.

this will give you some idea for visual reference:

The big block is a cool idea, but I would not go that route again under any circumstances. Too much heat and weight. A well built stroker SBC will be more than enough to break parts on command.

That engine bay looks ridiculously tidy and clean. And right.

That's a monster.

Are you running 37s? I think you have the setup I want to get to eventually.

Dude that's so sick maybe ill just copy your setup.

On another note I made it back down to yuma to get the donor truck tonight. Monday we got a flat on the trailer so we couldn't get it back. I can finally start tearing stuff apart.

Now that I'm home here's a picture of the truck that I'm getting all the shiz from. 454, TH400 and dana 70, I gotta set it up for 4 wheel though (should be simple). On a side note does anyone in Arizona want a 1 ton chevy body and frame after I'm done with it? I think it'd be a sick truck if you restored it.

It would be a heck of a tow rig. Add a 6bt cummins trans of your choice and a new rearend. Be tought to beat for that purpose.

Brokenparts that is a sick cruiser.

Sick chevy. :hillbilly:

Update on the project

Made a little more progress. I wanted to get the motor running before I pulled it. It has been sitting for a few years and gave up a fight, but in the end I got it to fire up and idle this morning.

I think if I can get some help this week we are gonna start pulling motors. I'll probably throw the 454 on a stand and reseal most everything seeing as how its a 76 and I know for sure the exhaust is leaking and it looks like the valve covers are too. Probably just clean it up and spray it with some hi temp old school chevy orange. I also chased down an np205 off craigslist for a decent price (apparently they are hard to come by now) so I should be getting some stuff done here soon.

So you don't have a smog check in your neck of the woods and you never plan on selling the rig then right?

Right. If I ever wanted to sell it I'd just throw a small block tbi in you can pick them up complete for pretty cheap. I changed my address to an office I've got where there is no smog too so that solves the smog check issue. If I did tbi I could pass smog here and sell it easily if I ever wanted to.

Thats one clean engine. :p

Got the motor pulled

Now that I know my motor runs good we pulled it out with the tranny tonight. I'll get it cleaned up and throw it on a stand and start going through it over the next few days. I ordered a new oil pan gasket and rear main but they won't be here till next week. Gives me some time to get the old beast cleaned up a little bit. 30 plus years of grime on that thing is pretty disgusting, just about as bad as my 2f.
